Chirping/squeaking when lightly apply brakes

I recently starte hearing this odd noise lately like a squeaking/chirping from what seems like is coming from the rear. I thought it was a bushing squeaking when going over bumps since it sounded like that. I'm **** with sounds so I got right on it and figured out I get the sound when driving and I brake lightly. It is constant until releasing or pressing harder on brakes.

Any ideas guys???

I'd either say the lower control arms or your brake pads. Awful weird that you're just short of 1,500 miles though. Maybe you'd be better off taking it to the dealer.

Hi 2012GTCS,

I’d like to escalate this for you. Please make an appointment with your dealer and PM me with your VIN, dealer, mileage, and contact info so I can help.

Mine did this at about the same mileage, but I haven't noticed it in a few weeks.

Hopefully it goes away. Weather has be crappy, when it clears up I'm going to take it for a spin and if it does it again I'll make an appt with the dealer. Tha ks for the Insight.

there's very slight squeaking on my brakes too, but I attribute it the brembo pads. My prior cars with brembo pads did this too. Now on your GT/CS, not sure...

Mine does it from time to time and seems to be coming from the rear brakes. I'm not going to worry about it right now because it doesn't happen that often and I'm going to change the brakes and rotors anyway.

Back from the dead.

Still have this issue. Does anyone have any other ideas? This is about to drive me nuts. I'm going to take the wheels off today.

Under Light braking I get the most chirping and also when cruising I can hear it but less occasionally. Its been happening since before the new suspension. But if I remember correctly with my factory wheels it doesn't do it. Odd. Theres also no signs of rubbing on the wheels.

Any ideas?

My 2012 with Brembos does the same exact thing. Seems like it only comes from the rear passenger side. It drives me nuts too but from what a few guys at ford have told me it is normal. My brakes are doing fine and wearing normal and still have 8mm on them. You think it's some sort of rubbing?

Have you re-torqued the aftermarket wheels? Maybe loosen them and then re-torque to see if one may be a bit out of position since the noise started with the different wheels.

Yeah they've been off and on a ton of times. Gonna put new lugs nuts on today or tomorrow.

I can't decide If something is rubbing or not. It's very awkward when it happens while braking and then it does it when just cruising too.

If you still have the stock wheels, run them for a bit and see if things change.

Anthony, I will crucify myself for saying this, but have you taken it to the dealer yet? I don't think you have any mods related to that sound that will void warranty right?

Like I said before, I have very very light squeaking sometimes, but it's due to the brembo pads. Since you don't have brembos, it could be something else. Unless you have aftermarket pads too.

What pads are on your car?

Sounds like it squeaks on dry weather which means the pads could be wearing unevenly

Well as an update, I guess the moons aligned correctly yesterday and I think I solved both of my squeaking problems. I had another thread in the suspension section of a whistling from RR shock. ( seems like it was the hard shock boot rubbing the shock body)

The chirping sound seems to be something with the E-brake. As stated, under regular driving (no braking) I get the noise intermittently. If I pull the e-brake up 1 click, I get the chirp constantly, but not too loud. 2 clicks it gets quieter, and 3 clicks its gone.

Any ideas why it could be doing this and what to play with when I pull the wheel? Thanks

I think you need to loosen the ebrake

Been a while since I've messed with the ebrake... I want to say you can adjust the cable under the car. Could be wrong
