Cheap door inside plastic
I would have preferred soft plastic (like the dash) on the doors of my '10 rather than hard since I tend to rest my arm on the window sill rather than the armrest of the door, but realize Ford has to make tradeoffs when deciding on things like this. Ford has seemed to improve the hard plastic over the years, however. My '05 GT's door panels scratched very easily, while my '06's didn't even though they looked identical.
*With the hard plastic, it really doesn't bother me. I drive an old truck lol, my dash is probably harder than anything you're complaining about
VW does a great job with all the nice textures and controls in their interiors....lots of rubber and soft touches. Audi also does an amazing job in this area (I know it's a much more expensive car).....just a fan of their work.
Oh, yeah, no one knows how to appoint their interiors better than Audi / VW.

I therefore see no problem with the 2010 door panels.
Both my 2004 Audi TT and my friend's Audi A4 have hard plastic doors w/ soft armrests just like the 2010. My friend's BMW 335 has soft vinyl on the upper part of the door as well, which now has worn away from him resting his arm up there and looks like ****.
I therefore see no problem with the 2010 door panels.

VW sells over a million Rabbit/Golfs worldwide which significantly reduces the cost. Keep in mind, tho, that padding will wear on the doors, just like my friends BMW 335 I mentioned in my other post. And btw, the Rabbit/Golf sells like crap here in the US, and doesn't have 305 HP for 22K ( I ve never seen a 16,000 Golf- I suppose you could order one that way if you want tiny wheels, no HP, and no floormats. )
