Canadians buying USA spec mustangs?

Anyone here from Canada gone across the border to pickup a GT?
Or any car for that matter.

I'd like to know if its worthwhile to buy in the US as apposed to Canada.
We are always more expensive here.
Last I checked the difference was around 8Gs.

I want to get 2013 GT and I'm sure Ford won't be offering much in rebates since 2012 was the year for that.

So my concerns are:
- what mods are needed to pass into Canada
- Do you pay US state taxes
- Do you pay Canada Province tax for Customs
- What is the duty for customs
- anything else?

thanks

Send a PM or leave a guest message on his member page for montrealponies. He went to US to get his 2011 5.0.

Get the DRL's turned on. PM me when you are at that point.
- Do you pay US state taxes
Depends upon the state. No taxes in NY.
- Do you pay Canada Province tax for Customs
GST/HST at the border, provincial sales tax at time of registration
- What is the duty for customs
None, but there is a 100$ A/C tax that you would have paid anyway
- anything else?
Go to the Registrar of Imported Vehicles website. There you will find all the info you need. You can even create a customized checklist of the steps to bring your car in. For a 2013 car, you will have to wait until Ford tells Transport Canada that the 2013 cars meet Canadian specs.

You beat me to it.

When you bought your car down there.

I'm in the same boat(canadian here, wish I went down to the states first) if you could share the useful links I'd like to learn how it's done too..

My order came to $41447 Canadian 2012 GT,6spd,nav,3.73,brembo,comfort,glass,camera,hid these guys down here buy them for 32k I'm not sure if it's worth the saving since customs is a rip off

Edit: ordered mine during employee pricing saving $8000 off
