California Special Upgrade
California Special Upgrade
Hi,
I have found a couple new 2012 Mustang GT Premiums I'm interested in purchasing. Does anyone know if I can add on the California Special package post-factory? I realize I could probably go about doing this myself, just wondering if this was offered by Ford.
Thanks

Either factory ordered or do it yourself.
New seats, dash, wheels, spoiler, front and rear bumpers, stripe, side scoops, faux cap, grill, fog lights, floor mats, ...... did I get it all.....

Be easier and cheaper to get the cs factory and then change out the goodies you don't care for.
That's why I went with the cs again, not liking the wheels but everything else is the way I want it.

Well, the reason I ask is because some dealers near me currently have some very good deals on 2012 GT's in their lots...so I'm not sure if it would be cheaper to order a new car from the factory. So I guess Ford does not offer any of the options on a CS post-factory?
The most expensive post add-on to the GT/CS is the wheels. I think the GT/CS wheels look great, but since I already had a set of Ford Racing GT500 wheels, this didn't make sense.
Additionally, wheels are probably the most customized part of the Mustang so you better really like the CS wheels before you get the package, otherwise you're going to spend more money upgrading the wheels, and the CS package + new wheels costs more than if you had skipped the CS package and bought it all separately.
The interior bits don't add much of anything, just a material and dash treatment.
The pedestal spoiler and CS Front Valance and grille add some distinction to the car, but if you like those items, you can get all those parts for about $700.
The stripe down the middle of the door area, again add distinction, but you can get numerous stripe options through the aftermarket to your liking for under $50 to $300 depending on what you want, or get the original CS stripe from Ford for $200.
In the end it comes down to what you really want. Since I already had wheels, I would rather have $2000 to spend on performance related items, not an appearance package.
