That tire comes as original equipment on bunch of factory hot rods ie: Merc C63 AMG, Lambo Murcielago, Audi R8, Ferrari 599 GTB etc...etc...I'd like to see a minimum 275mm treadwidth out back on the 2011's though, but I doubt Ford will forfeit the ability to rotate on the mainstream GT. Just my .02...
I want a track pack car bad but i remember a post way back about how much these tires cost and it scared me into next week. They also dont wear well either from what I could gather. I know everything is a trade off but the price of the tires was astronomical if memory serves me. Everything is tuned around them but I can help but wonder if there is alternative when it comes time to replace them.

Who knows as of right now as the car isn't even in production yet. My guess is you could get about $1000 for the tire/wheel setup as it is coming with Pirelli PZero's. Someone could buy the set just for the tire replacement. The $1000 would be just to pay for the bigger rubber while the cost of the new wheels will be out of pocket.

aah ok. I think I may go the same route as you except I'll sell the tires and keep the wheels

That's my understanding. And the GT/CS gets the 245's....

its all about getting all that power to the ground..look at the

super snake 725 hp and gets beat by just about anything(stock vette,gt-r,or anything in the 400-550hp range).. it make me sick to my stomach when i see this..FORD should either build the car right or dont even bother building it.. PUT THE RIGHT TIRES ON !!!WHEN CAR & DRIVER & MOTOR TREND test there cars its stock to stock.. not what if i put on some slicks/drags and see what it can do now.. MMFF does test in stock form and then with upgrades but then advertises on front cover upgraded mods times on cover.. anyway i just hope they put the right tires on the 5.0.... im sure Ford know the stock tires better hook in order to beat a Camaro SS...

SS also has a launch control program in the ECM. Take no skill to get great times.

Well, Evan Smith (MM&FF) still went 11.90's with a 100% stock '10 GT500, even though the other mags could only muster high 12's or low 13's with the monkeys they call editors. Driver ability plays so much into ET's, especially an under-tired 500+ hp GT500. I applaud MM&FF for bolting on some drag radials, too, for a better understanding of what is possible. IMO, drag racing should always be done with sticky tires to level the playing field.

Very true. Driver skill plays a big part in these high powered cars.

As long as the 64V wheels are still available, it's all good.
