a/c compressor. kicking off during acceleration?

While accelerating on to a highway with a/c on I noticed the cold air stops at full throttle and comes back after normal driving. I realize this is normal. Is the compressor made to turn off at full throttle or is something like a vaccuum stopping the cold air during these situations? Just curious becuase even with a/c on it is barely noticable as far as drain on motor and acceleration.

It's temporarily disabled by the computer to make the engine more efficient (A/C compressor robs power from engine).

A/C compressor isn't made to be spun that fast, kicking it off at WOT saves it from imploding at high rpm.

I was thinking about this a few weeks ago when other Members were having AC compressor issues. Most stock motors do not turn as many RPM as the Coyote and was pondering if that was leading to pre mature compressor failure...

I havent heard of any premature AC compressor failures on our Mustangs; maybe this is why.

and this.

Compressors rob a ton of power. You would feel like your driving a civic if it stayed on on heavy acceleration. Also, since for still uses the old orifice tube style you would build up a ton of pressure on the high side.

It's all part of the software programming. In a previous car the AC disengagement was based on pedal position. When the gas pedal was about 80% depressed the AC clutch would disengage. I actually modified that setting when tuning to have the AC disengage at about 50% for better drivability. Probably could do the same with the mustang
