In direct relation to that issue - the pistons were changed, and the hood got vents to aid in cooling.
IIRC - the pistons received a special coating and either the addition or shift of a ring land.

Pistons were modified and they determined the oil squirters were not needed, so those were deleted.

Was that done only in 13 and 14 models up? or latter 12's? Mine was literally one of the last 12's made (from build date).

I'd have no issue buying a used '11 or '12 if it's in good shape, personally.
This is what I was thinking too, Kyle. Bad tuners... of course made popular by that one vendor/tuner that I'm so disgusted with I don't even like mentioning the name of.

My JDM tune and tuner have been rock solid. I put them up as some of the best out there. My car setup as a whole is just perfect... did I mention I love my car? lol....

As far as I know these changes went into MY13+. I remember seeing some pictures of the difference in pistons coating and rings between 2011-2 and 2013+ cars.

Ford removed the squilrters, changes the pistons, and added hood vent all at once. These small changes helped revise the power from 412 to 420hp.
