Look at the pic below to see how the exhaust setup runs on the 05 Stang.

http://www.2005mustang.us/05/44.jpg

I'm not a car expert but I still know alot about automobiles nonetheless. Perhaps I have just grown accustomed to the 94-04 setup.

Doesn't the 05 look kind of odd. I was thinking of getting MAC ProChamber and Flowmaster American Thunder Catbacks (includes the Delta 40s)...there's no way to get that work on the new car....or am I missing something.

Or do I have to wait 8-12 months until after Sept 04 to get a custom setup?

If I can't get that setup (mac and flows) there is no way it will sound right =(

The Vette uses a similar setup. The after market should come up with a new design to keep up with the times. For us, the result should be less parts, work, and money.

SVTCOBRA, i wouldnt suggest the h-pipe btw.
Ive posted this before but u guys will be pleasantly surprised how the 05 gt sounds. i was amazed. it's heavier, yet at higher rpms theres a smooth humming sound. Words cant describe but if u guys need a hint, listen very closely in the trilogy video.

What is sweet stock, should be sweeter with aftermarket exhaust. Maybe not H/X pipe, but, at least cat-backs.

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh yeah.

Well reading that the guys who designed the engine were like muscle car yo-yo's and they wanted the mustang to SOUND like a mustang.

Hell, even the V6 was to 'sound pretty good'.

Turn that sunabissssh up to 11 boys

Before we start thinking about any changes to the exhaust system, it think it makes more sense to wait and hear how the new 'Stang will sound, from what i've read in various mags, it is supose to be very different than the current generation 'Stang's...more like a sound of the '60's.......I wouldn't want to change that.......unless i'm told about possible gains in HP.....(read like 15-20hp)

No crossover. That's odd.

Doesn't the 05 look kind of odd.
The only oddity is the location of the crossover right under the break in the DS. Conventional wisdom says to move it closer to the engine. Other than that I see no oddities. Nice long straight pipes. That's a good thing, especially if they have to come from a factory (read: not mandrell bent!). Chambered mufflers have to go.

I'm sorry, but I'll have to go with a set of pass through and an Dr. Gas x for my girl when I get her

00StangGT:

That's the best way to go. Having stock mufflers or Flows is like stereophonic sound. But when you add the Mac H-Pipe...it's digital surround sound =)

I had been looking for that sound for a long time. Finally figured out what the setup was recently.

Mac and Flows. I wonder what it would sound like on a 5.4L?

Whats up with the driveshaft? Looks like some weird cv setup. Does anybody know what the advantage to that is? I wouldent think ford did that unless there is some advantage. Looks expensive.

Ford has made some pretty decent cats the last few years, and chances are these have good flow to them as well. I would think it a fairly simple chore to replace the h-pipe section with a good x-pipe, and swap out the mufflers - ought to see aftermarket mufflers pretty quickly. The cats may have to wait awhile, but again, that may not be a bad thing...
