Burning smell on '13?
if you do a good heat cycle, making sure you're not overtaxing the engine, it should go away after a few hundred miles
if it persists, get it to the dealer and let them look at it. Or do what i do -- take two extra strength Advil, place 'em in your nose and the smell should go away, but it plays he** on your taste... haha!! just kidding
this is part of the normal break in of the car.. its the plastics and glues and cats and stuff breaking in on the car. If you take the car in the service guy will have a giggle and send you on your way.
This is another reason why I buy used. Depreciation loss is not experienced by me, and the so called breakin smells are non existant.
I have noticed that the cabin filters on these Mustangs are not the best; I smell truck exhaust (when they are in front of me), as well as smoke from the current brush files that Central Florida is having lately. I had the dealer change them a few hundred miles ugo under warranty, but it did not improve.

I don't buy new for the same reason...the smells that is.

Then again, I'd rather have the new car smells than some of the used ones..

Particles...not scents.
I used to have my Ford dealer spray the AC duct work once a year to rid the cabin of the musty odor the AC vents would get from the Florida summers, and the condensation that would form in the ducts.
Good to know...first car I've owned with cabin filters. Would a blast of some sort of fragrance in the cowl area help in circulating a "fresh scent" in the cabin?

Before turning off the car, just run the vent (sans AC) for a minute or 2 to get the moisture out of the vent.
I have almost 1000 miles on my 2012 manual gt and never detected any smells EXCEPT when I put it in reverse and back up into my garage. It smells like clutch to me and it happens virtually every time. We're talking less than a minute and it's obviously at very low speed. Never had another car do this. So I dunno...can anybody explain this?
Mine had the burning smell for the first 4000 miles. Tracked it down to plastic on the exhaust that looked like it might have been some sort of envelope probably used to hold some paperwork (part # etc.). It was pretty well fried when I looked at it and would have required a grinder to remove it. I just left it and the smell is gone now.

As for the outside smell, switch to recirculate as soon as you see or smell the stuff and it closes of the inside from getting outside air....
I had the hot oily smell on my 13gt, and it only lasted a couple days. Like others have said, it's just part of the breaking in period. I noticed it the most when I parked it in the garage for the night.
You might be able to put some of those smelly things right at the filter....not sure how much room there is. My grandson just takes the plastic off of them and drops them in the vents of the Explorer he drives.

I've had the oil burning smell for years....four banger fox ;-)
But with all my new cars/trucks ive owned (seemed worse with truck for some reason) they take a while to burn off the new smells...
