Burning smell on '13?
Pretty normal during break-in while all the oils on the motor and exhaust burn off, the catalytic converters burn-in, and the rings seat in the engine. Pay attention to the smell over the first 1000-miles, it should diminish over than time.

Since on this topic...I am under 500kms right now...what is the proper break in ?
I have just driven on the high way and did 120, 124 Kms an hour, and yes, the smell is there...plus have brought the car up to 4,500 rpm tonight, and getting the burning as well.
Aside from the Manual, all it says is...do not drive at constant speeds for long periods of time...what does that really mean ?
My gt is an auto.

OP, both my 12 and 13 have this smell. Especially after some spirited driving
let me be specific, smell coming from the back (more noticeable in a closed space) is the smell of welding points, exhaust pipes heating, and plastic parts heating up..ford tech guy said same thing happens when you get new catback exhausts the parts will heat up giving off a smell..if its burnt toast smell in the front, then its the clutch..

I did. Haven't smelled it lately but even past 2000 miles I was still getting it under a certain circumstance.
