Bumper Painted; how's it look??

Hey guys. Some jacka$$ tagged my car in the middle of the night, so the bumper cover was replaced and painted.

It came out a little darker. Some lights it's not as visible, some it is. Leave it, or, pay a different shop to redo it? It's not bad, just being picky I suppose!

I still don't see a difference in it, so in that respect it looks fine. I know something not matching would drive me nuts (kinda like the 2010 orange camaro bumpers were from the factory) so depending on the cost I'd pay. But based on those pictures, I wouldn't.

Looks good to me! Like other's have said, though, that's based on photos and not being there in person.

the rear bumper cover on my '12 in some lighting looks darker than the car body in photos and it was that way from Ford. The only place I've noticed it is in the photos I took the day I got it. Looking at it I never notice it. Only in some photos. I think it's the way the light plays with the shape.

more paint on the bumper cover means less flexibility. Paint can crack. Probably best to leave it as it is.

It's hard to tell on my screen. But, I understand how you feel as I'm the same way. Only thing I can say is, if you ain't happy, I ain't happy. I usually give things like this several days, and if I'm still bothered it's back to the shop. Good luck.

Take it back to the shop that painted it and have them redo it. It's their responsibility to make it match. They can adjust the formula to bring it closer.

I can't tell any difference but the shop should repaint it if you aren't satisfied

Oh, for what it's worth, this is before the fix; lovely that this happened, in the middle of the night parked in my apt carport!!! I was shocked to come out and find the car pushed a foot!!

Whoever did that work cannot color match, that is not the same color.

At first I thought it was a bad job, but then noticed I was seeing the reflection of the powerlines.

I agree with the others... hard to say based on photos - but looks fine from the photos.

Here's hoping for karma payback for a person who didn't have the class to leave contact information.

Chudc: I feel for you. We work hard to get a nice car and some idiot trashes it and doesn't have the integrity to leave a note and take responsibility.

If the paint color doesn't look right to you, I'd go back to the repair shop and show them. If they're a reputable business, they'll respray it.

My garage is small, and I gripe about how much work it is to get the Mustang inside without scratching it. After seeing the photos above, I'll stop whining and be happy that I have the garage.

Don't try and repaint it, if you paint a urethane bumper more than once the paint usually ends up cracking.
beside a lot of them don't even match exactly from the factory

That's frustrating, both the cause and the color matching issues. From what I can see in the pictures I'd have to agree with most: I just can't see an appreciable difference that can't be attributed to angle/lighting/etc.

If it's something you notice every time you look at your car, then make them re-do it. My roof was a slightly different color compared to the rest of my car when I got it. I took it back to the guys I bought it from and they repainted the roof no charge.
