Brembo pkg and winter wheels/tires

Im a potential GT premium buyer, and want to know, if I get the brembo pkg, will I be able to fit 18" wheels for my winter tire setup, or will i be relegated to only using 19" wheels from here on out because of the larger rotor size?

Also, are the brake pads used on this car with either the brembo pkg or the stock pkg way less dusty than, say, BMW pads, which dust like crazy?

thanks.

18 inch wheels fit.

HOWEVER you need to make sure the offset and spoke design dont hit the caliper face on the back of the spokes

Get some used or take off 07-09 GT500 wheels for your winter set up. They are 18" and can be found for relatively cheap if you look between now and then.

I noticed that all the SVE wheels on LRS specify their offset. Is there a minimum? Also, what do you need to look for in the spoke design to know they will fit before ordering?

Glad to see this thread started since I'm pondering this very question. Tirerack.com has no suggestions for winter wheels for the Brembo cars so far...

This is the exact follow up question I was about to type!

The 05-up fitment of those wheels would be the +24 18x9s and +22 18x10s, but I would call them to be sure. There is a YouTube video of Falken testing a 2011 Brembo Pkg GT with these wheels.

Just found this on a tirerack Mustang forum:

"I have been told by a number of sources that any wheel that fits a GT500 will fit the GT Brembo since these are the same brakes.

For my winter tires I think I will go with 2010 GT500 18" wheels. i like these. I do not mind the Brembo wheels either, so I am good (I think). Now if I can just sell my TA....

I like the idea of NA and less weight so the choice between the GT500 and GT is clear for me. It looks pretty easy to get the GT into the 11s a so i will leave the 9s and 10s for the GT500s and spraying GTs."

While we are on the subject, you guys use Studless or Performance Winter tires for your Mustangs? From my research it looks like going with pure studless winter tires is kind of overkill since must city do a good job keeping the streets clean (the main once at least) once it start snowing. I usually don't drive if there is going to be a big storm anyways.

New 'Stang driver needs advice please

Sorry to bring back an older thread, but I'm still confused for wheel choices for Brembos.

I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to wheels, and the TireRack site isn't helping me - it still gives ZERO choices for 2011 GT Convertible with Brembos!

I want to get some winter wheels for our (mild) Vancouver winter. Did some thread searches but didn't find a lot, except GT500 takeoff wheels and some of those threads weren't certain if they'd fit (or they listed 19" GT500s).

I would prefer 17" or 18" since the winter tires would be cheaper for those sizes.
I may sound uneducated, but since my car comes with 19" stock can I easily fit 17" or 18" with my Brembos without issues?

Couple threads said these SVT wheels or these GT500 wheels or would fit.
And a buddy of mine says these Bullitt wheels will fit.

But as I know nothing about wheels (do I need spacers? rubbing? fitament issues?)
Any help/suggestions/experience is greatly appreciated!!

Those Bullitt wheels you posted will not fit.

Any wheel that will fit a GT500 will fit, but they will be 18" or greater.

Tks for the link but now I'm more confused.

Stang1982 said in this thread "18 inch wheels fit. HOWEVER you need to make sure the offset and spoke design dont hit the caliper face on the back of the spokes."

That seems to fit with the post you gave me. But confused about Dim A and B and C and where I can find that info when looking for wheels.

The problem with clearances on almost all 18" wheels is the spoke clearances on the backside of the wheels needed for Dim A and Dim B specs for clearance of Brembo's calipers. The GT500 18" wheels had to be designed specifically to clear the larger fixed Brembo calipers which need basically double the back of the spoke clearances of the stock Ford 1-piston and Baer PBR 2-piston calipers. This is why GT500 wheels have that big bulge in the center of the spokes, the bulge allows for caliper clearance.

Here is a template for you to use. Brembo says that the Mustang calipers need Dim A=47mm+3mm, Dim B=122mm-(MINUS),3mm and Dim C 200mm+3mm as a MINIMUM clearance, more is better for mechanical flexture and better cooling. These dimensions are for Brembo family "B" calipers and may differ slightly from the Ford sourced GT500 calipers though AFAIK they are identical right down to the pads supplied.
