Brembo brake pad & rotor replacement / life?

I took my car in over the weekend for an alignment, and one of the suggested repairs was a full pad and rotor replacement all around. The car has 32k miles on it, and they mentioned the rear pads are more worn than the fronts.

I know I'm going to get OEM replacement rotors and have these turned down for track use, but what about pad options? I've been told the 2013 GT500 rear pads are an upgrade over the stock ones, but what's a good, streetable front pad for a Brembo caliper? Maybe Boss 302 pads?

I'm considering the HPS as well, provided I can't find a better stock solution. How's the dusting on those?

The ceramic will have less dust.

Looks like its $550 for all new rotors and HPS pads all the way around. Front brakes are expensive compared to other vehicles I've done brake work on.

^^^ Well they are Brembo so expect them to be more expensive. At least the rear brakes are Ford branded.

Yep, gotta pay to play. Anyone else with a BBP car change pads and rotors?

I'd say that's a relative bargain.......I paid over £600 for pads and discs (as we call 'em here!) for my daily driver e46 BMW 330i

Be interesting to see what you settle on........have you swapped out your axle yet?

No, not yet. I was going to do it this past weekend, but after I got this news I decided to wait so I could swap the rears when I do the axle. Now I probably won't have time to do it until early Oct.

$550 sounds cheap. My last car required new pads/rotors about every 30-60k miles depending on how you drove it and the parts alone were $1000 excluding labor. BMW = Broke My Wallet.

just in case
no infractions for posting this right?
As for the dusting with HPS pads, its not bad at all, much better than the oem setup prior. I do wash the car once a week...

I'm not surprised by the rear brake wear. The fronts however should have decent life still. You have not had the car on track so I am surprised they recommended to change those.
Here's my recommendation: Change the rear pads to GT500/Boss pads, verify the rear rotors "really" need changing by measuring thickness. Get a set of HPS pads for the front, and evaluate those rotors too (although I really doubt you need new ones at this point). Then you can switch between the HP+ track pads with the HPS for street, as the compounds are compatible with one another.

Overboost needs to jump on that. If I needed rotors right now, I would totally buy them.

I'm not sold on the fronts either. I plan to take the front wheels off tomorrow and look them over better to see where I stand. I thought about saving the factory rotors and using them for track days, but I may just hold off on rotors if there isn't any heavy scoring on them.

Took the rear wheels off today, pads are nearly gone. Replacing them this weekend with Centric rotors and Hawk HPS pads.

Are the front rotors already out of spec?

They don't appear to be. I bought new rotors just in case. If I don't need them, I'll keep them for track use.

I see. I wouldn't be too happy if I had to replace the rotors every brake job.
