Very strange. Look at the online list. Nice but suspect.

It is not a contest, friend. Everyone is not going to agree on anything. You are entitled to disagree if you so desire.

You have different expectations, and you are entitled to go with them if you so desire.

Wow.. ok... were to start... well I guess Ford could paint every tiny thing. And design it to look perfect and then you can pay the price of a beamer and get a mustang... wait... even beamer rotors rust

I didn't like the rusty axle on my 08's, so when I got an '11 I made sure to get one with the PAP (painted axle package).

It's about $20K more, but it does come with an awesome supercharged 32 valve 5.4L and a bunch of other hardware.

I guess rustystang never owned a car before??? and btw who spend 32k on a v6 LOL?? I have worked on bmw's and high end cars that had rusty bits. I have worked on late 80s fox body mustang and that rust never did any harm. They cost what musta be coated and move on. I can see you knwo nothing of cars or how thigns work and how to fix things.

Coming onto a mustang forum and yelling at people about something you do not understand makes you sound like a Ahole. Fighting with people that having nothing to do with building the car is stupid. Thats like going into the market and yelling at the person behind you at the check out for the service the checker gave you.

Also... its a v6 who cares? sick burn? *check*

BTW: Oxidation (rust) *is* protection. Someone correct me if I'm wrong here, but chrome is oxidized - it does it virtually transparent, leaving a protective, clear layer that can not further oxidize, protecting the steel underneath.

AMIRIGHT???

I'll be treating my axle housing with some Ospho and giving it a coat of paint. Not a big deal.

We did. In the grad scheme of things, Ford saved a few bucks cutting back in the paint bit it's easily fixed with $10-25 and some time. Do I like? No. I'd rather see it finished.

I'm sorry you are upset and disappointed. It would have been nice if they treated it.

I wasn't happy that a spare wasn't included when I bought my 2011. I negotiated getting one in the purchase price of my car.

I hope you won't let this keep you from enjoying a great car!

If you drive in the rain or snow the axle housing will rust. I don't care if it's painted it will rust.

The paint usually would start failing in the first winter. These under chassis coatings in many cases appear to just to keep the parts from rusting while in inventory, not while in use. In use the parts are apparently designed to have a layer of corrosion. A few have really good coatings on them though. These probably aren't designed to have corrosion on them.

I've never seen an axle housing or control arm or other such bit under a car rusted through. I've seen 60s and 70s cars with entire hunks of structure gone but their axles and control arms while not pretty looking are just fine.

Would I like every underside part painted pretty? Yes. Do I expect that to happen? No. Do I expect less and less to be painted as materials get better and weight/cost needs to be taken out thanks to government and the fed? Yep.

I agree surface rust on a brand new car is unacceptable but you can fix it with 7.99 rustoleum! (Sp?) I guarantee you could go by any brand new car model out there and find something wrong with it! A 7.99 fix is better than some other problems! Ford answered out enthusiast call for a higher hp base motor 8.8 rear end and better handling in a v6 and mind blowing performance in the gt so now we have more to complain about?? Surface rust or no surface rust as long as its not on the paint or body and doesnt effect how it drives i really dont care!

PS. Whatever you do, don't open your hood and look at your exhaust manifolds.
