While it would be cool, way cool for a TF 5.0, it just seems improbably given Ford's current dire straights. But more likely, IMHO, would be too either dust off the 4V Mach I 4.6 and tweak it up a lot, or dust off the SC 4.6 and do the same -- the bulk of the development work and tooling have already been done on these engines and either operate in the 400hp power gap in the Stang lineup.
4V Mach = poor emissions and little if any power advantage over a 3V (in stock form)

Ah forgot about that.

Wouldn't be "just" for the Mustang. While the EcoBoost 6 will be taking over for alot of V8 duty, there's the GRWDP vehicles to consider, a possible future V8 linc sportster, and a TT 5.0 would be more efficient than a TT 6.2 for various applications.

While true (for the most part) the look and sound of the thing is 10X better imho.

Torque advantage over the 3-valve if both are stock.

Say what?

The 385 engine family was in production for 30 years and was one of Ford's most successful engine designs both in terms of performance and sales.
