Boss 302 crate engines now available

Ford racing has announced that Boss 302 crate engines are now available:

yeah I saw that in the Ford Racing newsletter, and my first thought was "sounds good -- I wonder how much they cost?"

I had a feeling it would be "too much", you confirmed and answered my question.

Basic 5.0 crate motor is $6,999.

For heads, intake and what else? It might not be that bad. But for 30 hp? I agree when a tune can get you the same performance.

You're forgetting the forged rotating assembly plus the OEM durability testing that ensures this engine will last a long time.

Maybe I am mistaken but isn't the GT500 motor more or less the same price too?
