corvette:

i live in vanc cdn

years ago we drove this (google map it)

-i5 down to olympia...then onto 101
-threw washington, oregon, northern cal (takes forever as winding road) but is unreal beautiful, and killer little coastal towns...wild tunnels, bridges ect
-then after san fran head towards santa cruz and take no1 (as you say...pass by big sur) ect...simple stunning...again windy as all get up...but who cares with views like that...then all way down to san luis obispo...then back onto 101...and on to lala land...and back home on i5 (no time left...so had to do crap interstate back home)

if you take time week to 10 days..be trip you never forget...

Have you noticed I've laid off silverbull for a while cuz he seems content now that he's got a '10. Although that drunk thread he made was awefully tempting

Anybody remember the name of the road Ford let the press drive during the press event for the 5.0 and 3.7?
I think it was near Port Hueneme....

Cherohala Skyway is nice, but be prepared to get stuck behind slow Harleys.

I made a pretty nice round trip Cherohala Skyway -> 129 -> Hwy 28 to Bryson City -> Cherokee,NC and back home through Newfound Gap.

That looks like it could be a really fun/dangerous road in the wet. In the dry, I think I would drive cross country just to drive that road! It looks awesome! I love me some tight, technical twisties!

Interstate 10 between San Antonio, TX and Junction, TX.

Speed Limit is 75MPH =)

Highway 71 between Llano, TX and Austin, TX is very hilly, curvy, and scenic as well!

Patrick -- US 129 (aka Deals Gap aka Tail of the Dragon) is one of the finest driving roads on the east coast. 318 turns in 11 miles with basically no driveways, cross-streets, or other normal road obstacles.

On the other hand, there are tons of motorcycles, cars, and sometimes large trucks, RVs, trailers, etc.

For a little fun, watch this YouTube video:

You people all siphon with a large amount of negative pressure. I mean, honestly. Don't describe it, SHOW IT, for cripes sake...

THAT is good for both a Mustang and your motorcycle, if you have one. Three Twisted Sisters: 335, 336 and 337.

I'd love to do this on a motorcycle, as I've done it in a car several times:

... well, except for the extreme south side of Haleakala, past Lindbergh's grave, where it's all gravelly... I don't think I'd like takin' a motorcycle there. So back from Hana through Makawao and over to the west side.

So, do that. Much more funner.

Houtex... GREAT roads. I've driven the Hana road before. More like SURVIVED it! But I had no idea Texas had anything besides long flat super slabs. Thanks for sharing that.

I drive the Cherohala Skyway TN/NC at least once a year....definitely in the fall.

The drive I enjoy the most often, at least once a month, is U.S. 64 (River Road) from Ducktown, TN to Cleveland, TN through the river gorge next to the Ocoee and along Parksville Lake.

In the mountains where I live, almost every drive is a great experience.....especially with the top down, which is probably 75% of the time.
