Best exhaust set up with O/R xpipe
I've been searching around and reading for a while now, and I've narrowed my exhaust decision (I think) down to 2.
I've heard the ATAK mufflers with an O/R xpipe and they are a bit too raspy for my taste. I like the sound of the Borla S, but have yet to here them paired up with an O/R xpipe.
I've read that the Catback vs Axleback will produce a little more drone as it removes the stock resonators (thoughts on this?).
Narrowed choices:
Borla-S axleback with O/R Xpipe
Bassani axleback with O/R Xpipe
I realize that running an offroad xpipe with a fairly straight through muffler will inherently produce drone at highway (1,900-2,200 RPM) speeds. I do a lot of freeway driving. But I like the sound and also the smell
(I know...weird) of running catless.
Which set up (or a 3rd?) would be the loudest/most agressive sound with also minimizing drone and raspiness.

My Bassani combo is not LOUD. Is very refined sounding at WOT. It actually seems louder at mellow acceleration compared to WOT.
I will get a new video soon, so bear with me.
If you want O/R H and Stinger LOUD, look at the Roush axleback with Lethal O/R X. It's really loud.
I wanted loud, but a different tone. I could not be happier.

I should clarify, I'm looking for loud but not straight pipes stupid loud. Something with an aggressive, will get noticed, volume AND tone. Also, zero-minimum drone.

Oh an to answer your question I have my heart set on the Bassani axel backs with the x pipe. If that means sacrifice some drone at certain spots then it's a sacrifice I'm willing to take cuz it sounds amazing.

Are you in LA? Because you are asking for a headache if you go real loud. I know 2 young kids in V6 cars who have been popped for loud exhaust because they converted to dual exhaust system and another with a Bullitt who is running 3" pipes with Magnapaks using the Bullitt H-pipe. Its getting real ugly out here.

My 05 GT had shorty headers, OR x pipe, and no mufflers. I drove it that way for 3 years with 0 problems. I was pulled over 5-7 times for speeding and once for no front plate. Never mentioned the exhaust or the illegal tint.

Another factor to consider is whether you are planning to add LT headers. Bassani make LT headers for the 2011 GT. Borla, AFAIK, doesn't for the 2011 GT. That's not to say you couldn't couple the Borla exhaust with headers from someone like Kooks or ARH. But, I like that the entire exhaust from headers to mufflers was designed to work well together, by the same manufacturer.
good point. After hearing this...I'm leaning toward Bassani-

You're in the same boat I was. Initially, I restricted my search to only Borla and Corsa, as no drone was an absolute prerequisite. Then I heard the Bassani exhaust...
Bassani claims there is no drone with their exhaust, but several Bassani owners here have reported some drone between 1900-2100 (though a few vehemently claim there isn't). The Bassani sounds so sweet to me, I'm willing to put up with a little drone. If you're willing to do the same... ![Thumb](https://themustangsource.com/forums/images/smilies/thumb.gif)

SoCal you commented on my exhaust saying you were originally set on the Borlas. It's the start up and rev video from Saturday.
The Bassanis have no drone by themselves. It's once I threw the O/R X on that they started droning.
No question there is drone with my set up. As I said before, my 3.73's keep me out of the droning range 97% of the time.
80mph on the freeway is a calm rumble. No drone at all.

Good point. The price difference between Borla and Bassani is quite high too. I can live with 3% drone especially if 80mph with 3.73 (most of my driving) is drone-free.
S197Gt, what made you go with the axlebacks over the full catback?

Anyone looking at any of these systems should check out Dallasmustang.com
For February, all items are 10% off (code: HEAT). Shipping on the full catback (heaviest item) is cheap to ($30 to CA via UPS ground 5-7days).
The Bassani AB is $450 and the full catback is $922. Best prices I have seen so far.
