What some people consider drone, doesn't even effect or register as a problem with other people. This is not an insult in any way and in no way is this directed towards you, but I have noticed that the people who are complaining the most about there exhaust have only been in the game for five years or less. Why is this, I'm not quite sure, but all I can tell you is that 15 years ago I don't care what exhaust you had (super loud, raspy, obnoxious, open headers, dumps, etc) I never heard anyone refer to drone before until 2005. Some systems had the same effect and sound of the drone people are complaining about now, but you never heard of it as a complaint then. I hope you find the exhaust that works for you.

What the hell is drone anyway??? LOL!!! Seriously, any time you install aftermarket mufflers with a deep sound, you are going to hear the exhaust tone in your car when driving. Some systems sound higher pitched as far as the tone and you hear less of the exhaust sound inside the car. No drone as they call it. Depending on the RPM's of the engine, the sound inside of the car is going to sound different in pitch. Some like the rumble, err I mean drone, in the car, others do not. I like a deep V-8 rumble sound outside and inside the car, so I guess I am one of the few odd-***** here. And noted by the poster that I quoted above, I have never heard the word "drone" in my almost 57 years on this earth until about 5 years ago as well. To me, it is just the great V-8 rumble you hear from an American Muscle car when you put louder than stock exhausts on it.

Just my opinion, YMMV

Drive safe & have fun!

Drone isn't the deep rumble from the exhaust, I'm pretty sure most of us hear love the deep V-8 sound. Drone gets caused by the exhaust vibrating at a certain rpm range causing an annoying buzzing noise to bounce around inside the car. Some people do tend to be more sensitive to it than others, so it really is just up to individual opinion for each system if there is drone or not. In real bad cases I've known it to cause migranes on longer road trips for some of my friends.

News to me about the exhaust vibrating. Not saying your not correct, I just have never heard of this before. As far as migranes, yes that is no laughing matter. However I was sure everyone was talking about the exhaust rumble that I have heard inside the cars I have had loud pipes/mufflers on. It seems that some just was a fully quiet interior and an exterior with a good sounding V8.

When you hear drone, you'll know it. It's not just loud exhaust. The exhaust just hits a perfect resonance point and it's a REALLY LOUD HUM. You can almost feel it inside the car. If you go up or down a bit on the RPM, it breaks the drone and it's just loud exhaust.

On my '01 I would just crank up the Mach 460 to drown it out. Once I put 4.10s on the car the RPM was high enough at highway speed that the drone subsided.
