Bad News for Retro Body Lovers (Cont. of the New Body Thread)
#21
I hope they make a 'call it what you want' version that looks like a modern 69. folks call the 05 retro, but park it beside an old one- it dwardfed the 69 for one thing(blew my mind first time I rolled my 69 out, parkedthe 06 next to it) and really its not at all like the older ones- yes the hood is longer than the trunk, its got a kinda fastback roofline, and the headlamps are angled back, and it dont have a pointy nose- but other than vague text references, there aint a similar line on the car.
I hope for the more 69/70 quarter top line, losing the hockey stick, and rolling the trunk into integral spoiler like 69/70. on the nose- as long as its got a big recessed grille, it will look more like a mustang- thats the one thing I hate about the new camaro- the pointy nose...the vette taillamps look wrong too.

I was reading a magazine today and it said that the 2009 (Which they called a 2008 model) will be completely changed. The only thing that will stay the same is the roof centerline. Not really sure what they meant by that. I don't know if I am excited or afraid to see the new stang.

I wanted to post this in another thread, but thanks to jenks post, I ll post it right here.
Two days ago, I talked to a friend, who is a die hard bowtie lover, about the new Camaro. He told me that the Camaro concept was built in 1999 and that Ford copied their idea of a retro car.
Then he told me that the reason the Camaro is going back into production was not because of the success of the Mustang, but because the public wanted it to return.
Now tell me something; if this is true, why didn't the Camaro go into production in 2006 when they saw the 05 Mustang Concept, and why did they make that concept 3 years before the Camaro was put out of production.

Because it's more than obvious, whoever your friend got his info from..Is full of This sounds nothing short of just another, typical GM publicity stunt, which doesn't make any logical sense, whatsoever...LMAO

I doubt it was built in 1999, actually if you have seen the video and article about the making of it, it says they were still creating the concept right up to the deadline of the unveiling. Although they could have had a different concept around for awhile, or just on paper.

don't you remember the 2005 mustang concept...that was both retro and modern..the same crap they are saying about the new camero concept. I doubt ford will go away from the retro look..its selling and why would they wanna mess that up?

I think the scallop is what makes the Boss type stripes look odd on the S197.
Scallops or no, dont change it a lot

1st of all guys, the camaro and challenger will not look the way they do right now as concepts, lots will change before both hit the streets...dont forget that in the camaro design studio, a new mustang was used to take styling queues from

Yea well its halarious to see the Challenger's interior. It looks almost like a carbon copy of the 05 Mustang. Check out the steering wheel, speaker placement on the doors, door inderts, center console, window switches...its horrible how similar they are.

Well, the three spoke steering wheel is typical for retro muscle, speaker placement on the doors is typical for....cars, as are the door inserts, and the center console is completely different. I see no abnormal level of similarity between the two.
