backseat room
This is my 1st post and would like to say hello. I am looking at the mustang as my next car, but I need to fit 3 people in it sometimes. I am 5'6, wife 5'4 and 10yr old son 5ft.I sat in the backseat of a 2012 gt, and I was surprised with the room. My question is how many of you fit people in the backseat on a regular base. Thank you for your input.

not on regular basis, but i had a 6 footer in the back, then a rear facing recaro seat and my wife in the back and me 6'1 as a driver, i was surprised also at how well it worked out, even tho it seems so tight in the back

My '11 Mustang sees passengers in the backseat frequently and we all fit fine. I'm 5'7", my wife is 5'3", and my 18 & 20 year old daughters are a little shorter than me. Up until recently, my wife had a Miata, so the Mustang was the "family" car for awhile. Wife now has a '12 Ford Escape, so that's the family car now, but the Mustang was decent for passengers since none of us are tall.

Wow this is great to hear. I sat in a 2011 gt with cloth interior when they 1st came out and I thought I hit my head in the backseat, but today I tried it again with leather and my head did not hit. Do you think the leather/cloth made a difference? I hope im not getting shorter.

I'm 6'3 and about 280lbs, I've been in my own back seat about 3 times now. It feels like riding in a coffin but manageable nonetheless. I prefer the front seat but have been known to partake in the drinking while a buddy was on crutches and drunk. Dd got to drive, he rode shotgun, and yours truly was crammed in the back seat.

I have had adults sit it the backseat for a 250 mile road trip... They are pretty comfortable once seated

I think the "key" to back-seat comfort in these cars is that the person in the front seat should have their seat set "comfortably", but keep it forward an extra notch or two, and don't tilt the front seat back too much. Once you're in there, the back seat on these cars is pretty comfortable and supportive, imo.
I REALLY wish Ford could have made the seat-release a "pre-set" or "memory" release (whatever they call it in the auto-industry), where you could use one hand to pull the lever on the seat-back, and the whole seat would release and tilt/slide all the way forward. Then you could use one hand to just push the seat back and it would lock back in place where it was. I've had this on previous cars and really miss it. Those were earlier cars, though, I don't know if that mechanism still passes current crash-tests?

That seat is awesome; may I ask where you got it and how much?

I'm 6 foot even. Wife is 5'7", and my 10 year old daughter is 5'1".
My daughter is comfortable enough in the back that given the choice she would rather ride in my car than my wife's Camry.
