Back on the pony...

Hey All - Been a while since I've been here, used to have a 08 GT, loved that car. Had to sell it and downgraded to a **** Mazda 3 lol. However... really creaming over the 2013 V6. Sorry but I just can't afford $40K for a GT, prices definitely went up since I last owned one...

Any thoughts or reviews about the 2013 V6? Looking to possibly go for the manual in black just like my old GT, rest her soul!

Welcome back!

GT's are not 40k unless you want a fully loaded one. IMO the v6's are a great car but it's no V8 and since you had previously an 08GT I suggest u stick with a GT because you will always want that V8. It doesn't even have to be a 2013 you can find an amazing deal on the 2011s and 2012s. Use that to your advantage to score a deal on a used 5.0 if you could, it's well worth it in the end

Well I'm going from the 08 GT so at 300 HP, it would be a lateral move lol. I'm actually thinking of possibly leasing around the mid $300 range monthly... I built a pretty bad-*** one on the Ford website for that. But I was wondering if anyone has had any road time with the '13 V6.. I don't think I can get a 11/12 GT for the same??

I have a 2012 V6 Premium and love it!! ... but this is also my first mustang, and I'm already thinking of getting a GT in the future. Even though HP is pretty much equivalent to your '08 GT, I agree with Josh, that you'll probably be happier with the GT.

I'm sure you can lease for around $300. The base 2013 GT starts at $30K.

As far as a DD, the sixxers are great, but I am planning on trading back up to the V8....

'12 V6 PP M6 Black
And the '13s are the exact same car, just different aesthetics, and upgraded technology....

By all means if you can afford it get the V8..great engine and nothing beats the sound of the V8.....but if funds are tight, the V6 with the performance package is by far the best bang for the buck around. My 2012 was around 23,500 out the door....the v8 would have been almost $8,000 more.....you could probably beat that price now. Insurance is really cheap for a car that can run in the high 13's. It looks great with the 19 inch wheels and all black...but a pain to keep that way, but it helps that it is a pleasure car and only driven occasionally. Not quite 1,200 miles on it so far, delivered last October but stored from Nov through mid March. Either way you can't lose!

Thanks everyone for the feedback. JC I think I'm looking to close to yours. I built an all black with the 19's black rims on the Ford website for the 2013. Got it to be around $340 a month which is perfect, just have to put a lot down which sucks. But I have to look around.... I'll be honest, I've been waiting for a Stang with projector headlights forever. And finally LED taillights, LED 3rd brake light, it's about **** time. I'm cheesy like that but those little things make me giddy lol.

I thought I could do the V6 as an upgrade from my '06 GT, but it really didn't work for me. I test drove one, but the lack of torque was painful for me... Definitely test drive before for you order, I would have been sooo disappointed if I got the V6... But to each their own, I wish you the best

I agree the 8 is much better and I REALLY wish I could have gotten it...but with the wife disabled, funds were not there but I had to have something with a little more power than my Tiburon!!! Going from that 172 HP to 305 was like night and day and my insurance DROPPED by more than 250 every 6 months...and I had a 87 5.0 GT and this car would smoke it!!!

That's the thing, I can't spend a crap ton of money on a GT, but I can get away with the 6 banger... And it's not a bad 6 banger to boot!

You can get an excellent deal on a '12 right now. With the instant rebate and invoice pricing, you could get a GT for around 26-27K, then customize it how you want. The motor and drivetrain are the truly important parts. I got my 12 GT Premium, Manual, Brembo package with HID's for $30K out the door. You just have to shop around. The 5.0 V8 is the only way to go. You will always want the V8 if you go with the 6. This motor is amazing.

What are the major changes from the 2012 to 2013 models? I think I see the HID's are standard now and the taillights are a bit different..

Ford rates a extra HP gain of 8 so it's estimated 420HP. Of course you get the new rounder shelby looking front end and the more refined rear end as well. And now the side skirts are painted to match the color of the car instead of the grey plastic. Lastly the new colors added of Got To have it green, deep impact blue. They brought back sterling grey and did away with kona blue. Those are the "major" changes everything else is just extra options and bells and whistles.

No problem man. Like I said definitely try and stretch for a 2011 or 2012 GT new or even used. You can find some great deals just have to look.
Best of luck and do keep us posted with your end result

Just did a search on Autotrader....very good discounts not only on v8 but also the v6, so either way you should be able to save a ton over a 13.
