Anyone Notice a Shortage in Convertibles?

There are like 3 coupes for every 1 convertible in dealer stock here in the Northeast! I know there are always more coupes in general, but lately it seems even worse. Are there any holds on verts specifically?

3:1 seems optimistic. Most dealers I've gone to in California are 90% Coupes.

Lots and lots of convertibles were built during the early part of the run, presumably because mid to late summer is already very late to be selling them in the northeast. Not as many people want to shell out for a car that they will be parking in a few months.

Unfortunately a lot of people don't think like you, at least not here in Mass. People around here are very ignorant about winter tires and what it can do for RWD cars. I don't argue anymore.

Yep its all in the tires. Makes all the difference in the world. And I don't even run winters. Just michelin pilot all seasons they are great all year round. Up to 6-8 inches of snow no problem. More than that and it is a ground clearance problem more than traction.

Talking

I've seen plenty of them way up here in NH.
Local dealer is almost half and half.
Must be a Jersey thing.

That's the spirit!! That's why we have the Comfort package!! What would have made it MORE comfortable these past few weeks would be the air-conditioned seats out of the Expy/Navigator!

Back the O.P.'s subject, I've seen more convertibles than coupes in the GT, and more coupes than verts in the V6 around here. Certainly no shortage of 'verts.

That's right Shotzy, we drive our Stang verts all the time! Of course in South Carolina, mine will never stay parked! A beautiful, cool winter night with the top down, heated seats on, and the stars crisp and bright. Incredible and beautiful!

As of now from three local Ford dealers in my area, out of 57 in stock 2011 Mustang's 16 are Verts. I think the ratio is about normal for where i live.

We had a snow storm here about 2 years ago. Big white flakes coming down very hard but it was a very dry snow. So about half home on my 40 mile drive I said why not. Stopped and put the top down and continued driving. It was one of the coolest things I have ever done. Not to mention all the weird looks But driving down the highway at about 60 When you looked up it was like I had a white roof. The snow was just cascading over my head. It really was a very rare experience. You should have seen the look on my wifes face when I pulled in the driveway

I had a Miata and the owner's manual did not recommend putting the top down at temperatures under 45 degrees as it could damage the top, i didn't see any thing in the Mustang manual so I guess there aren't any limitations?

I'm guessing the Miata had a plastic rear window. Years back I had a Fiat 124 Roadster up in Seattle. We had a rare DRY cold morning, about 30, so I decided to put the top down and drive to work. As it started to fold up there was a loud pop. That was the plastic back window cracking in 2 or 3 places.

I just checked, though, and my 370z has a warning not to lower the top below 32 degrees and it has a glass window.
