You might wanna check out lethalperformance.com they still have the option available for the cammed idle tune. At one point they had taken it off but its back up now. Idk something to check into I'm about to look into it too.

I originally posted a thread about this on s197forums.com under chit chat. There is a legal issue, Ford wants to patent the boss trackey which uses the same concept. Ford asked all tuners to stop developing this tune.

Ford has the power to stop tuners from writing custom tunes?

There was more than just the request from Ford to stop making it. There were numerous threads about driveability issues with the cammed tunes that were a big part of that. While Lund was close, he didn't have all the finer points hammered out, causing some issues.

Someone also pointed out to me that Ford (obviously) has deeper access into ECU tables than the aftermarket does. There are more parameters that can be tweaked through the OEM than through the aftermarket.

Is there any hope that Ford will sell the Track Key to GT owners at some point?

Thanks overboost. Would you have any idea why the option is on their site? It states the option is only available for the manuals which backs up your point on drivability.

They may not have updated their website to reflect the changes. I personally wouldn't buy it,even if the option is there.

I don't know if we'll see TracKey for the GT down the road or not. I think it's a great tuning option, and is a clever way to do it, but it also poses some questions that appear not to have been answered by the attempt to sell it with the Boss 302 right now. Once that is released, the chances will go up, and it should be easier to roll out in the future.

they could offer a watered down version of cammed tune that is going on the trackkey to GT owners. instead of two seperate keys it could just replace the idle parameters in the system.

Doubtful. Defeats the purpose of TracKey. Who knows, they may add the dual path ECU in the refresh here for '13.

well i would agree with that if trackkey was just the ghost cam idle. but as we know it is alot more than that.

it would be pretty easy for them to add just the ghost idle to the FRPP tune. or have a tune that keeps all the engine parameters stock except for the ghost idle. i think there would be quite a few takers for that.

ford has the keys that unlock the ecu.

they can choose to give away none. symbiotic relationship.

ford i guess thinks the lopey idle is important to the boss track key.

and i can say that i blame them..

beers

So how is it that they are the only ones still able to offer this? I was going to buy my tune/intake through american muscle just because of the price difference and the fact that you get 3 tunes and lifetime updates. Is the cammed tune a good tune or does it have glitches as I have heard others stating?
