I highly doubt the people at the end of the 800 line know anything. They are probably more clueless than the dealerships. Short of flying your own personal spy drone over the assembly plant, the best intel you will probably get is from the sources here at TMS. You'll never know everything. Ford is too tight lipped and there is too much at stake. Learn what you can here, infer whatever you want from there, and that's as good as it's going to get.

The 3week delay hasn't been the nightmare I was referring to. It's just been the icing on the cake. As far as I am concerned with THIS delay, if it's as minor as it is I'm just delighted to get the vehicle finally.
My question was if we should be worried about the 2011 motor to begin with. And directed towards people who are capable of responding to it/reading it.

GT -- Brand new motor (mostly), though built off of prior knowledge. Developed on a shortened timeframe. Sure, be worried if you want. But it's still one kick butt motor and any issues, if there are any, will probably be minor and will be covered under warranty.
V6 -- A few differences perhaps, but it's almost the same engine that has already been used in many other cars. Not much to worry about there.
In the end, I think the incredible advancements of the new drivetrain by far..by herculean leaps and bounds... outweigh a little worry about them being new.

wow some of these posters here really need to get a grip on life!!! This is a car you are ordering and only a car. Who gives a **** about a week delay? 2 week delay? You will get it when you get it..saying a nightmare, etc, etc is really laughable.
This coming from a guy who has ordered 3 brand new mustangs including a 99 cobra and a 2001 cobra not to mention a 2003 cobra.
Why get yourself so worked up? Why listen to your co-workers who don't have a freaking clue what the hell is going on. Relax and be thankful you have posters that share this info with you as they don't have to.

Some seem to forget that Ford tested the new 5.0 at WOT for how many hours/days??? (Wasn't that in the MM&FF article/thread?) No worries.
As far as those that like to slam the union workers, regardless of any excesses in the past during good times, with all the layoffs and plant shutdowns and exportation of US jobs, you can bet union workers are just as puckered about keeping their job in this near death economy as non-union workers. I'm sure they are doing their job well.
And I would rather have my Mustang built by experienced journeyman - that get a break and a lunch - than a bunch of minimum wage red-eyed rookies that have no long term incentive to keep their job much less do it well.

I consider myself extremely lucky to not only have the means to buy this amazing new car, but that these delays are the only real stress in my life.
Now, I count myself as one among the crowd of people who are anxiously awaiting news of my new car. I just hope the rest of the crowd can appreciate how lucky we are, as I do.

What they are doing or fixing right now, would be the known errors....so that they don't give you problems when you get the car.... That's a good thing.
The unknown stuff, is the stuff that will creep up, if anything (and there will be, regardless how small... issues)
No car is free of TSBs
Even after it ships, if a TSB is raised, your car should get it before your delivery.
I wouldn't worry about anything.
The waiting sucks, whether there was an issue or not.
