I will update this thread when the light turns green. No cars will ship until then.

I can not and will not go into specifics (there will be tons of guessing in this thread so be aware.)

I am not aware how this will impact cars YET to be built. If I find out more on that topic I will update the thread.

EVERY car will 100% when it leaves the factory.
Thanks for the info!

Ugh. I have had my car on order since the first day you could order a 2011. My VIN has been up since the 7th. My first delivery date (to NY) was the 17th but it was moved to the 24th. I've done the insurance and everything! I would love to know what the issue is and now where my car is!

Question... how does this effect things downstream? Like if they have it resolved and release the hold on Wednesday, can the shipping play catch-up on the cars they built already and be back on track? For those of with build dates of April 27th-ish, is this really going to effect cars that far out if its resolved in a decent amount of time?

Only so far as there are railcars available at the railroads. We've seen a variety of bottlenecks over the years when a bunch of product needed to be shipped in a hurry (i.e. last year's cash-for-clunkers comes to mind) and often time the rail companies simply don't have enough railcars in one place to accomodate a big push of products from the factory.

FFS, let's all fly to Michigan and pick up our cars and drive them back to our homes. Maybe that will help?!?!?!

I will gladly go to Michigan and drive mine back if it will help out with the shipping delays.

I heard someone say there is no way around that. Even the dealership at AAI has to pay the 850.

My theory is that Ford is doing this to clear out existing 2010 stock. What sort of far-reaching technical problems could there be on both platforms?

I ordered my Mustang a week ago and the wait is killing me.

Guys, I can second what Shaun said. Right now, it's a matter of going back through and re-checking things. That's all anyone can really say without sticking their necks out. Just be patient, and people will let you know when they ship.

Like I said in the other thread, I think most people would rather not pay for a car on order and let things be worked out rather than make payments on a vehicle and not be able to drive it. In due time fellas...

for me. im kinda glad they are delaying for a bit and not shipping.

1. lets them work things out

2. keeps me from ordering right now. when i know they are shipping anyway. i know there is no reason to order right now.

but it does suck for those that have ordered

There are plenty of railcars available at this time. Its not like it was a few years back.

I wouldn't be too surprised if Ford let some early builds go to rental fleets first. It would almost be like free testing for Ford. There are no direct owners to go nutso if something is wrong, no one who cares if they have to be sent back into the shop, it probably doesn't count as a recall, and any flaws probably get fixed in time without any significant bad press.
