All 2011 Mustangs on hold
Oh don't get me wrong. I rather have the delay then put the car in the shop. What I'm saying is are there issues with this motor already, and this is a car that's been fixed rather than a new car. Is this usual or does this already mean there are issues with this car. I haven't gone through this process before, so are they handling it well? Does this always happen? Is this a bad sign?
Couldn't stand the pain so I called the 800 number posted here. Good news, my car is waiting to be shipped. ETA here in South Florida May 4th. Asked her about a hold on any cars and she hadn't heard of any. Hope this helps all.
I think the fact that none of us have seen any of them yet is a pretty good indication that this hold is real. many people had delivery dates of 4/10, 4/17, etc
I have to admit. I got pushed to a 2011 in December when I ordered a 2010 and they had already stopped making them at the end of 2009. I was ticked and I really didn't want to order this new engine. Now there are 'issues' and my car has already been made. Should I be worried? Was I right? All of my coworkers keep making me feel like I made a mistake and I'm getting an already broken vehicle. This is my first new car... it's been a horrible experience from day 1.
I'm not tweaking out, but all of the magic has been sapped out of it and I'm waiting for it to turn out to be even more of a nightmare when I finally get her.

Everyone here is insane.
The cars are not and won't be perfect. No matter what the delay. You just have to deal with it. They are mass produced by a labor union concerned with union mandated breaks and lunches. Please see the warranty section for 05 - 09. I laugh at the insiders here saying "they are just making sure the cars are perfect".

I think you should be very worried. I think every person driving a car should be worried. Just think about it. The very car each one of us has been driving for years might have been held back a week before it was shipped! I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if I were to find out my ten year old car had been held back a week before leaving the factory so they could replace the hinge in the sun visors or make sure I didn't get a windshield wiper motor that came from a bad batch. It's a nightmare, alright.

You're ordering a brand new car that has been delayed 1 week, while many people are laid off and are worried about putting food on their table... perhaps you need to re-evaluate your priorities.
wow some of these posters here really need to get a grip on life!!! This is a car you are ordering and only a car. Who gives a **** about a week delay? 2 week delay? You will get it when you get it..saying a nightmare, etc, etc is really laughable.
This coming from a guy who has ordered 3 brand new mustangs including a 99 cobra and a 2001 cobra not to mention a 2003 cobra.
Why get yourself so worked up? Why listen to your co-workers who don't have a freaking clue what the hell is going on. Relax and be thankful you have posters that share this info with you as they don't have to.

I'm getting a little worried here. I called the 800 number yesterday and my car is built, but the ETA is still 4/10????
The rep said my ETA won't update again, that seems a little strange. So at least you all are getting updated ETA's, Ford is basically telling me they have no idea when it will arrrive, since it stil shows it was supposed to be there 2 weeks ago almost.

Buzz Killer! I agree, It would be bad PR for them to allow the CS Ops to say anything that wasn't officially announced.

These type of bugs are common whenever you have fairly large changes to a model. Despite prototypes, preproduction and pilot cars there are some things that just dont show up until you are running cars in the thousands. Just be thankful the issues were caught before you received a car with the issue.
You should see the crap that goes on everytime production on something has to be suspended on Corvettes. They can hardly hide it when people are doing tours and their to watch their own car roll down the assembly line.
The 3week delay hasn't been the nightmare I was referring to. It's just been the icing on the cake. As far as I am concerned with THIS delay, if it's as minor as it is I'm just delighted to get the vehicle finally.
My question was if we should be worried about the 2011 motor to begin with. And directed towards people who are capable of responding to it/reading it.

Non-union scabs don't need no stinkin' lunch or breaks. They're some working fools.

Modern R&D is more simulation than build. Sure, they build cars (1PP and prototype) for line testing, but the majority of component testing is done on a computer and simulated in "real-world" environments.
Look at it like this, it may be an inferior component, out of spec, etc., and not a bad design. Everyone freaking out has to understand how this process works, then chill the hell out.
