Well since its all for seperate reasons I guess it cant be the ELECTRIC POWER STEERING PUMP that is essentially the only all new component all cars share.

There are different issues on each model.

Its NOT a common problem between all models.

Well, my dealer finally responded to an email I sent him last week, he claims there is no hold on
2011's but admits my ETA has changed from 4/28 to 5/3/10. I hope thats the extent of the delay.

If there is an issue, the car isn't out yet so it shouldn't be major, unlike GM putting faulty cars out FIRST to the consumer then recalling them later.
can't say i'm making stuff up, It happend.

I don't know...I could be wrong...but I think the answer is probably pretty simple. There are probably a bunch of smaller issues that Ford might have let go through in previous years. But with the whole Toyota fiasco, they ain't hedging their bets and they are going to make sure there are no issues that end up in the media.

I'm tellin' you, it's those darn kanooter valves. I heard they sourced some from China and they couldn't let those go out so they are replacing them with the much better ones made in India...

THESE HOLDS ARE NOT COMMUNICATED TO DEALERS OR REPS.

and Ford has never had a recall before....like leaky intercoolers on 99' Lightnings
BUT I am glad Ford is being proactive this time. As much as it sucks waiting longer for your car and not having a clue what is wrong. It is MUCH better not to have to take your car back to a dealer and have them tear it apart. Lets just hope they actually fix what ever problems they are having. However, I am having a hard time understanding how major they could be. The 2011 is not a whole lot different than the other s197's. The problems have to be mechanical whatever they might be and from the new items (EPAS, engines, transmissions, upgraded brake system, Brembo brakes). Hmmm now that I spell it all out, all of those items sound MAJOR to me..

PS: I am starting to

With all these 2011 cars sitting there outside the plant, I believe there should be a pretty good reason for holding, since they may have to get each cars back inside again for fixing... that is going to be messy and time consuming IMO.

I figured as much but assumed even if the dealers knew they wouldn't tell for fear of losing a sale, hope that revised ETA holds.
My car was scheduled to be built the day we learned of the hold, if my car was indeed not built, would my window sticker be updated to reflect a new build date?

While I'm not going to speculate on the specific cause(s), an additional possible source of problems can be QC issues with new suppliers, or a supplier making an unannounced change in materials, process(es), etc. I just hope that the fix isn't going to be labour intensive, as there would be A LOT of cars to modify.

I've seen the Silverdome parking lot full of new Jeeps, with a few guys crawling over them replacing some widget(s). Not a fast process.

I had a '99 Lightning, the intercooler issue was never a recall, it was only a service bulletin.

Tommie Vaughn Ford in Houston tried to talk me out of getting the service bulletin repair done to my truck, said the only trucks that had problems were trucks that were run hard with boost upgrades. I told them to DO IT!!!

Yes there is an issue.
No it's not serious.
Yes it's being fixed.

Everyone can calm down, your cars are coming shortly.

Does this have anything to do with Essex engine plant slowing right down?

All those cars sitting outside in the rain and cold are probably starting to rust out. Glad i'll be passing my order later.

On the topic of orders...Anyone have any particular favourite dealers willing to deal? I noticed someone said that they got two quotes at invoice for ordering a car, and also is X-Plan being offered for it? I'm curious...

Not to my knowledge no.
It's nothing that large, nor anything to be concerned with.
Just has to be fixed before the cars leave, that's all.
