Adding jobs at V-6 factory..

http://www.ohio.com/news/break_news/85636257.html

It looks like Ford is adding 60 jobs at the factory producing the new V6. So on net, it looks like Mustang will actually have more people working on it initially. Probably all the pre-orders for V6's have Ford putting its priority on this new engine, since this becomes the biggest risk.

Let's hope it's a sign of better things to come for all of us.

This is good news. I would hate to have a delay for engines. Not trying to get off topic but, i wonder how many engines they can make in one day?

Yes, we're all helping the economy by buying Mustangs! Keep on buying!

Well, me too. But, with all of our orders together it is helping the US economy and putting people back to work!

It is great news that we're adding jobs here in America rather than Mexico or China.

Careful, don't say that too loud. Someone might hear you and realize they screwed up...

It's not just the Mustang that will be getting the 3.7 Ti-VCT engine. It will be the standard (only) engine in the 2011 Lincoln MKX and an optional engine in the 2011 Ford Edge. Does anybody know if this is made in the same factory as the 3.5 V6 on which it is based?

They also just announced plans to lay off 900 people in July at the AAI Flat Rock, MI plant where the Mustang and Mazda 6 are built. Having said that, it should also be noted that Ford intends to end the second shift and speed up the first shift assembly line at AAI and actually produce more cars with fewer people. Most of those who will lose their job at AAI will be offered positions at other plants. If you go to most Camaro websites they claim the Camaro is the reason people are being laid off at AAI. There may be some truth to that but at least Ford isn't building more cars than there is demand for and then putting huge rebates on the hood just to move them.

I think Ford should use this motor to totally replace the 4.0 V6.

Think how cool the 3.7 would be in a Ranger!

Might be faster than a Mustang since a regular cab Ranger weighs a little less.

The base 3.5L and 3.7L Duratec V6s are produced at Lima Engine in Lima, OH. The 3.5L EcoBoost V6 and the 3.7L TiVCT V6 are/will be built at Cleveland Engine Plant #1. Lima is in the western part of the state and Cleveland is in northeastern Ohio.

Speculation has it that the 3.7L TiVCT as well as the 5.0L V8 will both be used in future F150s which probably explains why they are announcing additional production capacities.

As a side note, a friend of mine who used to work in my technical design group now works as a plastic mold designer for the vendor that supplies the intake plumbing for the 3.5L EcoBoost. He will soon be starting a new project for the EcoBoost F150.

Thanks, blksn8k. It's interesting to find out where all of these components come from.
