AAI off on holidays for the next two weeks
Just a head's up for those of you waiting on yet-to-be-built cars. The plant is down for summer holidays, and will start up again in a couple of weeks with the single shift schedule.

Historically, the plant would retool for the new model year while production was down. This means of course that an army of workers would be in the plant doing maintenance and changing tooling, etc. Just because production is down doesn't mean that the place is a ghost town.

Most plants have two shut downs a year for maintenance and retooling. At least two weeks during Dec/Jan and then again in June/July. I suspect the cars that have been going off site are being sent for repairs and returned for inspection. Thats why some of the cars seem to be going back and forth. Just because the plants not in production doesnt mean your cars will not be fixed/shipped.

My understanding is that this particular shutdown has to do with reorganizing the job stations on the line. Ford is taking AAI down to one shift due to extremely poor Mazda6 sales numbers. To compensate for the loss of the second shift, they are speeding up the line. They need to add / move job stations in order to keep up with the increased rate.

FYI, i getting on the highway with my GT last night at 8:00 pm. A load of Mustangs was getting on I94 headed west. There was GTs, and Conv V6s. So i belive cars are still being shipped. Weekends and during the shutdown, provided they have released to the train and trucking companys. Their not on break. Ronn

Yeah well my car is "off site". Doubt it'll see the light of day. Forget this. If my car hasn't had any movement by this Wed I will cancel and do something else. What, I dunno.

So far my car hasn't moved since it was built (5/17). Crossing my fingers the rest of the cars sitting around do end up shipping before the holiday weekend. Maybe during the shutdown they'd catch up on shipping all the cars that have been waiting (wishful thinking, I know).
I just got a message today from another dealer near me (not where I ordered) that they just received their first GT. The cars are moving, and I keep telling myself to relax and stay patient too. The wait is almost over!

You've waited this long already. It would be a complete waste to back out now. The car is soooo worth it.

Once they had a fix for all the problems, THEN they should have done the 2 week shutdown (Of the line) and concentrated 100% on fixing the ones sitting in the lot! %#@$^@
