#8 cylinder and mt82

Just wondering when these issues were addressed in production. Is it better to find a car built after a certain date in 2011.

Well, the #8 issue seems to only be a problem with a poor tune.....

My '11 was built on Jun 25th and I have no issues with the 6m tranny or any other part of the car.

This should be interesting....

I agree about the tune. All I know is what I have read here but all the evidence about #8, internet evidence, points to some poor decisions by a select few tuners very early on.

On the mt-82 others know when the TSB's were issued which probably means that at about that same date as the TSB Ford changed their procedures on the line for producing the trannies and cars. I know nothing other than that and that's all here say.

I didn't know there was a problem with the #8 and the MT-82 problem is also new to me also.

#8 issue is a thing of the past. Tuners have their tunes on lock down now. No more advancing timing too much or messing with the knock sensors.

The #8 issue seemed to be related to bad custom tunes early on, so you should be ok on that. The MT82 issues have been fixed over a period of time, so you'd have to look up each TSB to get an idea of when things were fixed.

Wishful thinking. There are 2 active threads on the #8 taking a dump on allfordmustangs right now. Looks like American Muscle may cover one of the failures under their warranty.

And how long have those threads been active? Haven't heard of a #8 issue for probably 3 months now.

One was started Jan 12 and the other Jan 13. It had been quiet for awhile though.

Do not believe anyone from AFM. John Matero is banned there. He came back with a new SN and open thread like that everyday. Those 2 threads are started by brand new users. I would not be surprised if that is him. My 12Gt is almost a year old. Mt82 shifts just like day 1, not one single problem.

Zero issues with my 2011 Gt 6 speed. Vortech blower with vortech tune. Runs PERFECTLY. Other than a few dashboard noises, no issues whatsoever...

Hmmm interesting. That may be true for one of the threads but Chris from AM chimed in on the other and confirmed they are working with the customer to get it resolved.

I am not saying every one of those threads are stated by J.M. You have to go hmmmm when new user's first post is mt82 trashing. When J.M was banned there, he has 5 screen names that was banned at once. Just goes to show what kind of a loser he really is. Even since he is banned, every other day some new user starts a mt82 problem thread. Don't need to be a rocket scientist to figure out what is going on. Unfortunately some legit user with problems are brushed aside as a result of J.m and his trolls consistently trolling AFM.

Love the last post. Good to know its normal GM design for my truck and Camaro to have an off center steering column.

Hi, I originally started the thread. I am a new user but do not have aliases under which I post. I am not bashing mustangs and as a matter of fact have a 12 race red standard GT on order. I placed the oreder on Jan. 5. However, a week after placing the order I saw the exact same car as being in the new inventory on my dealer's web site. The car is listed there but is not in stock. The sticker would indicate that car was made in May 11. I have not spoke to the dealer but am wondering if he just found another car rather than ordering. In the end it makes little difference to me. Again, I was just wondering if issues mentioned in the forums were addressed during the production cycle. Clearly from the first response, #8 cylinder is a result of aftermarket tuning. Fine. However, the mt82 is enough of a problem to warrant a tsb. I was just asking people's opinions if was better to have a car produced after a certain date.

the mt82 thing is a joke and it just needs a fluid change.
