6qts of oil for 2011gt?
So i got my oil changed at the dealer and when I got the paperwork it said they used 6qts of oil. I told them the car says 8qts and the service manager said it's a computerized system that fills the cars. I had them pop the hood and sure enought it was filled correctly. Has anyone ran into this? 6-8qts is a pretty big difference.

So long as it is full on the dipstick then let them charge you for only 6 qts.
It's 8 qts. including the filter when dry but you might never get all the old oil to drain out of it.

Good deal. I know it's hard to get all the oil out on a change I just thought 2qts seemed like alot but maybe it was 6.5 or something along those lines.

Yup, my dealer paperwork said 6 quarts so I questioned the service writer. Together we walked back to the technician who said it took just short of 8. They really need to change this in the system, as some slacker tech might let you leave with 6.

If they left 2 quarts in there they suck. I have done my own oil change twice now, and put exaclty 8 quarts in. Right where its supposed to be on the dipstick. Was this oil change the free one?

The new synthetic oil uses a combination of syrup and pure California honey. Thats why you had 2 qts stuck to the cylinders.

Well, my theory is that if it was the first free oil change, they threw the oil pan plug back in before it was done draining.
What I am saying is, If the book says 8 quarts, then they needed to put 8 qts in.

I have to agree with 2011GT/GS. I changed my own at 3000 miles (old habits die hard-have always done this with a new car) and replaced the filter and eight quarts of oil. It could just be the dealer computers have not been updated. My other concern would be, what oil did they use, the Semi-Syn or the full Syn. Check the part numbers. I am going to be taking mine in for the first dealer change, just to insure the warranty is never questioned, and I will sure check the oil level.

Last time i checked, Wal-Mart doesn't sell the FL-500S oil filters yet. I had to order a couple from O'Reilly auto parts. Still cost more than i liked but around $1.75 each, cheaper than the dealer.

Yes, this was a free change. I just hope it was as someone else mentioned and the computer was off. I will have to see if the same thing happens on the next one. I bought an extended warranty from this dealer so I want to have all the work done there. They have been good in the past with my explorers so I do trust them.
