So we now know the price points for the GT & GT500. There's a huge gap between the two in terms of performance and price.

Henry, were is the 'tweener?!

Middle ground is buy a GT and add whatever you want.

The gap in pricing and performance is smaller than last year.

If this was last year, I would agree. Perhaps a Cobra model between the GT and GT500. But that was before the new engine lineup.

Where are you guys getting $50k for a GT350?
$30k (cheapest GT) + $34k (GT350 conversion) = $64k at a bare minimum.

The GT500 is more "middle ground" than the GT-350 (by a wide margin at that).

Don't worry though, I am sure Ford will release a slew of SEs in the coming years. No reason to now though, with the 5.0 just coming out.

Where are you getting GT350? You're the first one in this thread to mention the 350... lol

So you want a $42,500 Mustang that has 455-485hp? (assuming the 2011 GT500 will have over 600hp, but under 700hp)

You will be able to build one through FRPP catalog

I believe Boomer touched on this in another thread. The middle ground between the GT and GT500 appears to be the perfect place for the much anticipated Boss 302.

As it is now

22k(V6) - 30k(GT) - 50k(GT500)

My guess with a Boss 302

22k(V6) - 30k(GT) - 40k(Boss) - 50k(GT500)

Just a thought.

That's a pretty big assumption. I would be surprised if the 2011 GT500 has more than 560 hp. I'm guessing it will actually be more like 550. The only difference that has been confirmed other than the aluminum cylinder block (which doesn't add any hp) is the switch to EPAS. That is only going to free up a few hp due to loss of drag from the power steering pump. I think it is a little too much to expect any other major changes to the 5.4L since it's days seem to numbered. It will probably be carried over until the next body style and then be replaced by a supercharged version of the 5.0L Coyote. I suppose there is a slim chance the 5.4 could get TiVCT but I don't see a good reason to invest the resources. This would seem do-able since they could probably adapt the Coyote heads to the 5.4 but that is just wishful thinking.

Totally agree with you, Ford will round up the numbers for the GT500. Overall it will be a better handling car cuz of the nose diet. Better balanced too.

Some people are hard to please.

By previous standards, as recent as six months ago, the 2011 GT would be the SE everyone was waiting for, of course, there would be dealer premiums on it and then that would be the complaint. The GT could have GT500 performance and still the would be a call for something in between.

When should we be expecting the 2012 Boss? It's January of 2010 now and we're already anticipating the arrival of the 2011 5.0 GT that's due to be out in a couple months...

I bet it shows up at next year's Detroit show and goes on sale that next spring.

Do we want Coyote heads on it? Recent articles say the Coyote intake side flow 4% better than the GT500 heads, but GT500 heads flow 20% better on the exhaust side. TiVCT is great for an N/A engine, but a boosted engine makes torque everywhere as is and the payoff in VCT on the 5.4L wouldn't be worth it imo.

GT500 doesn't need more power, it is so easy to get in the aftermarket. It needs more suspension and tire. Factory coilovers anyone? The only engine mods I'd make from the factory for GT500 is a cooler running blower.

Hope your right about that its time for a Boss I'd like to see it sooner versus later Gt350 isn't really a option for alot of people Ford needs to let SVT do a Boss thats a great bang for the buck.

If anyone at Ford is reading this, the key words from the above post have been highlighted and italicized for you!

I've read that the 2012 Mustangs will be back on a normal schedule, where the new models come out in the fall, not the spring. So probably about October 2011.
