5.0: New ECU?

Just curious, has anyone heard of the changes to the processor for the new 5.0? Is it still the same Spanish Oak processor (ECU) in the 05-10 for the 3V 4.6? Just curious as I will be wanting to mod my car ASAP after I get it and was wondering if I will be waiting for tuning companies, ie SCT, DiabloSport etc etc, to crack the processor before I can throw gears, and other stuff in it.

Thanks,
Rich

Where exactly did the name Spanish Oak come from, anyway?

Read somewhere that the ECU is called something else. Can't remember where though.

Spanish Oak, I believe, is a reference to how hard it was supposed to be to crack the code, but I could be wrong, maybe a reference to how robust the ECU itself is? The tree itself produces a very dense, hard wood...

Oh, no wait, here it is -- it's related to Motorola's production facility in Oak Hill, in Texas, and is just one in the "oak" family, the others being green and silver, I think.

So the engine control system itself is EEC-V?

Silver is GT500. It is faster. I would imagine the 5.0 needs a faster CPU than both Silver and Spanish as it has more things going on.

MPC565: 32 Bit Microcontroller (Mustang GT)

Features:

1M byte of internal FLASH memory (divided into two blocks of 512K bytes)
36K bytes Static RAM
Three time processor units (TPU3)
A 22-timer channel modular I/O system (MIOS14)
Three TouCAN modules
Two enhanced queued analog system with analog multiplexors (AMUX) for 40 total analog channels. These modules are configured so each module can access all 40 of the analog inputs to the part.
Two queued serial multi-channel modules, each of which contains a queued serial peripheral interface (QSPI) and two serial controller interfaces (SCI/UART)
A J1850 (DLCMD2) communications module
A NEXUS debug port (class 3) – IEEE-ISTO 5001-1999
JTAG and background debug mode (BDM)

MPC561: 32 bit Microcontroller (GT500)

Features:

Precise exception model
Extensive system development support
On-chip watchpoints and breakpoints
Background debug mode (BDM)
IEEE-ISTO 5001-1999 NEXUS Class 3 Debug Interface
True 5-V I/O
Two time processing units (TPU3) with eight Kbytes DPTRAM
22-channel MIOS timer (MIOS14)
Two queued analog-to-digital converter modules (QADC64_A, QADC64_B) providing a total of 32 analog channels
Three TouCAN modules (TOUCAN_A, TOUCAN_B, TOUCAN_C)
One queued serial module with one queued SPI and two SCIs (QSMCM) 32-Kbyte static RAM (CALRAM)

GT500 actually uses less parameters seems like more of a stripped spanish oak to concentrate more on the engine? idk what i even posted lol

If past years are any indication I would expect Ford has already been working with the aftermarket for the 2011s. They understand that there is a huge market for Mustang performance parts and that is one reason why the car is so popular. They also sell a few parts themselves.
