My friend had his exhaust on his Mustang recorded for a number of things. From commercials to even video games. Recently he had it done for Midnight Club.

EXACTLY what I was thinking when I read the OP.

The SHO commercials make the EcoBoost V6 sound like a V8 or something.

My guess, presuming the same exhaust system (isolate variables here) is that the 5.0 might sound a bit sharper than the relatively similar-sized 4.6. Of course, this is all HIGHLY presumptive, but I base my thought on a higher compression ratio and more aggressive exhaust cam timing allowed by going to two lighter exhaust valves vs. a single, heavier one.

That all said, I think that 90% of any exhaust sound difference from the 4.6 will be from changes in the exhaust system proper, which will probably be likely to deal with the increased flow from some 400hp.

That's why you never buy exhaust setups by listening to videos/recordings. You never know the conditions, what mic was used, what recording method, etc. Most youtube vids of people showing off their exhausts are done with pocket cams that never capture accurate bass tones.

We'll know what the 5.0 sounds like when Ford stops tormenting us potential buyers and puts one out to see/hear!
