5.0 engine in F-150 vs Mustang
The 5.0 in the F-150 has a lot less horse power. Anyone know why? are they the same engine

It's from adjustments to the PCM tuning and TiVCT to make for a power curve that is more favorable to a truck and towing and hauling.
A truck with a motor that has a power peak near to 7000 rpm won't tow or haul very well so they bring the power down in the rpm range.

That and the engine does have lower compression. I'm sure it runs on regular fuel instead of premium as well.
