That the automatic transmission option went up by $200 for 2012?
Wonder what made that particular option increase in price by 20%???
Pretty big one year jump.

The automatic being much easier to launch and more consistent than a manual.
This was brought up on another thread, thing is that the increase is across the board not just on GT's.

I realize that, but it seems like those going for manuals are checking higher margin options, like the Brembo package and optional axles or the V6 PP which would make up the difference.
I was just thinking that maybe they are going to offer the manual shift option in some form for the automatic and they are keeping it quiet for some reason.
they probably looked at it like this:
high percentage of mustang buyers who choose automatic do so because they cannot drive a manual or do not want to
so most are not likely to pass on the mustang or go back to the manual due to the price of the option being $200 higher. on top of that a customer would only know if they looked at the previous years option pricing. these customers look at the price of the auto as necessary. ford probably has a pricing window where they see demand inelastic for automatics
also what is the price of the auto on the camaro and challenger, no point on being below market on an option that isnt a differentiator

Just 1 more reason why when I found my Auto 2011 pre-owned was even better! I'd love to drive a manual! I still can just fine. I don't have the needed & required brain power to drive one though. No way I can check my mirrors, turn on blinker, glance over my shoulder, then change lanes, & shift gears now. Like I said, I'd love to have a needed ability to handle it. I don't & will never though. Plus, my auto is more than enough. I can be going down the hwy 50 MPH. I can turn off my TC, get wheel spin when I punch it! Maybe going 60? Too shocked I could @ 50, lost all chances of remembering.
I hear you guys, and altho I have the 6MT right now, I am thinking my next Mustang (if it's my DD too) will have to be an automatic due to the degenerative joint disease I have (almost no cartilage in knees or shoulders). My knee is borderline now (altering the seat position helps), so maybe the change may happen this year or next. At 48-1/2, things seem to be deteriorating more quickly lately.
If the automatic would come with a shift ****/boot more like my 401A interior's metal ball, and/or had paddle shifting, it would be easier to take. That frickin' huge tee handle on the automatic looks like it would have been right at home in my 1972 Cougar. Why Ford, why?

60's Mustangs had a T-handle shifter on their automatics so the retro Mustangs have one too.
By necessity the 2010-2011 Mustang is, at its core, a MIX of retro and modern. I just wish the auto shifter wasn't one of the retro pieces.
