5.0 Brenspeed Tune Problem?
5.0 Brenspeed Tune Problem?
Just installed my 93 Brenspeed tune yesterday. Today, while going from 1->2 at hard acceleration, my car jerks and goes into limp home mode. Also throws a code, P061B. This code means the ECU is detecting that my engine is putting out too much torque for a stock engine. Anyone else had this problem with any tune? I emailed Doug to see what his recommendations are. Anyone have any advice for me? I reloaded the SCT tune for now. From what I experienced for a short time, Doug's tune was great. Don't want to leave it on if it causes limp home mode though...
Hmmmmm..... Im suprised Brice (Low 11 Whipple/FRPP Blown 2006) didnt talk you into gettig a tune from Justin at VMP Tuning .
Brenspeed should be able to get you straightened out. If all else fails Justin is within reasonable distance.

What a bummer, i have no answer for 'ya since i'm running the '93 Steeda tune with no problems so far. Let us know what's up with that ! Good luck, i'm sure they will work it out for you.
I was having the exact same issue with my V6, oddly enough it only happened if I used cruise control on a stock motor. If you turn the car off and back on, it will turn off limp mode. Doug should be able to just turn that code off, its not hurting anything.
I already did. Its a not uncommon issue, and one that turners can turn off. I went 3.5 years with a tune and 3.73's on my V6 and tons of full throttle pulls. It only became an issue within the last few months, and only when using cruise control on a cold motor. I dont know why it suddenly popped up, but it did. I did some research and decided it wasnt anything to worry about, so I didnt bother paying for new tunes to get the issue resolved, I just traded the car in. I'm not sure how the motor senses torque, but the fact I went so long without issue leads me to believe it has nothing to do with gears. Oh, and your rear end gear is a end user adjustable parameter, he didnt have to specify.
So I contacted Brenspeed last Friday with my problem. Monday they tell me they will look into it. Yesterday I get an updated tune. They said they adjusted my torque variable as my computer must be sensitive. So I load it up and take the stang out. WOT in 1st, hit 2nd hard... and what is the opposite of limp home mode? It pulls soooooo hard in second and now pulls in 3rd as hard as 2nd pulled stock. Could not be happier. Thanks Brenspeed for the quick resolution and great tune
. BTW, anyone have any suggestions to keep the wheels on the ground when I floor 2nd? Tire hop like mad. Great power, now need traction...
Then, once you get the power to the ground you have to start worrying about burning clutches. After that's solved you start thrashing u-joints and driveshafts. Once that's squared away, rear-ends start gnashing teeth. Stock form is more than enough for me.
any one know if this unit fits that of the 2011?

But you are right about the trickle down effect.
