4.10s on manual 5.0?

I'm looking at a base trim 5.0- literally no options added. In all honesty, this appeals to me a lot more than the one listed in my sig. I can get out of that because I made no deposit and they didn't delete the spoiler, which really kills it for me.

I can get this base 5.0 for $30.6k out the door, which is good enough for me, but I'll want to gear it soon. Do I go with the factory option of 3.73s or step it up to 4.10s?

It will be my every day car. Current total commute is fifty miles a day but within three months it will be cut down to fifteen, as we're building a new shop.

On long road trips we take my wife's Altima so that's no big deal. I'm leaning toward going straight to 4.10s but don't want to do something stupid.

Drag racing your main goal?

Running slicks or drag radials?

Get the 3.73's they will be more desirable to the people who later regret getting the stock gearing and want to upgrade.

What appeals to you more about the base GT vs the one in your sig, other than the spoiler?

manual = no way
Auto= maaaaaaaaaybe

I am rowing gears like a mother as it is. The ratios are SOOOOOOO close in this box 4.10's you will actually waste more time shifting than its worth.
with the 3.73 it pulls throgh the gears crazy fast

base on your DD driver when you ordered the premium trim? maybe hold out and search for another premium the better steering wheel alone makes up for it.

Just the opposite

Manual = maybe

Auto = NO WAY

With the super low first gear in the auto the 4.10 would be a total waste.

Actually, for drag racing with the manual tranny, a 4.30 gear with 29" tall sicks would be killer.

Yeah, but first gear in the 6R80 Auto is 4.17:1.

4.10's are too much for a daily driver. Go with the 3.73's from factory.

In all honesty... price. I can very safely afford the premium, but when it comes down to it I can take a year off the financing and still have a lower note in the base.

Additionally, it's just a car. I'm likely to trade it on a new one in a few years. I don't spend enough time in the car to use all the extra crap. 90% of the time my radio is off.

Most of all I love the idea of a no-frills, get-down-to-business, STFU and drive it Mustang. It's not for everyone.

As for the steering wheel... it would have to be made of gold to be worth $3200.

Lol I just said go for it because he has changed his mind so many times, I'll just say do whatever he wants. 4.10s on these new powertrains would be crazy, but hell why not. Someone has to try it out...

I'd rather change my mind six times before a purchase than one time after it.

Hear, hear. I will say this, 3.73s are plenty of gearing, in large part thanks to the gearing on the transmissions. Maybe with more experience I'll have less trouble with this, but I already rev the heck out of it in first before I shift into 2nd in normal traffic conditions. I've been avoiding the skipshift by accident, haha.

4.1s wouldn't be an incredibly huge change, but there's something to be said for having great stock gearing IMO.

I would have to agree with Stinger on this one. my 3.73 are low enough, with 4.10s i would never use 1st gear for daily driving.

and if it was only a race car i would go with 4.30s.

Premium is so much better. Of course, this is just my opinion. If you're kosher with the way the base looks, and the features it lacks, go for it. I just know too many people that have regretted such a decision.

ehhhhh I have to go +1 here. Unless you are dragin alot forget it and go with the 373...if you are planning on doing alot go higher than 410 in this thing. Like Stinger said the ratios are close. So much different than the 08 Bullitt I had that my milage has dropped from the 25 I would get out of it to 19-20 range so far in this thing and I am driving no different......or at least trying LOL. I think I will easily get 24 or so after its broke in and I stop shifting to 4th to pass on the interstate

ETA: 25 mile one way to work for me. 20ish being interstate running 75-80mph
