3.73 in a 2011 vert.

i know the order guide says you cant have 3.73s in a vert. but is that in stone? could it possibly a option later on in the year? any of you salesman know if there is a way to get it from the factory in a vert?

if its out of possibilities. i would buy a set and take it to the dealer to have installed before i take delivery. is there a way to get the speedo corrected with a re flash and no tuner. i didn't know if this was possible on a 2010+. my 98 i just changed a speedo gear and i was good to go.

actually 3.55 would do for me but it wont have 355 either. it will only have 3.31. which wont do at all for me in a stang.

The factory won't make exceptions, and I doubt they'll add 3.73's as an option later in the model year. Keep in mind that 3.31's with the steeper gearing of the all-new 6 speed will make the '11 GT Convertible feel like a '10 with aftermarket gears.

The dealerships may be able to reflash an '11 GT Convertible for 3.73's if it's a manual trans since that powertrain is available already in the coupes from the factory. They won't be able to for an automatic since the factory doesn't offer that combination in any Mustang, necessitating an aftermarket tuner.

If you're going to do mods anyway, you may as well buy a handheld tuner. Then, you aren't restricted to just 3.55 or 3.73 gears. You could go crazy with 4.10's, 4.30's, 4.56's, or 4.88's, etc. My '07 GT was only 2 weeks old back in late 2006 when I had 4.10's installed. With the steeper overdrive of the '11's, I think I would want 4.56's if I bought another automatic.

thanks Brian. mine will be a manual. so maybe they can just reflash. i learned my lesson with my last stang. i got the modding bug and spent lots of money for what didnt amount to much gain. The good thing about it is i learned what makes a difference to me and what was truly worth it in performance mods. Im going to stick to exhaust, gears, and shifter this time as far as performance mods.

Sounds like you're on the right path. Don't forget to add forced induction to your list of mods FTW!

I'd recommend 4.10's if you deceide to go aftermarket.
SCT Livewire is a pretty sick "handheld" tuner.

Don't forget FI !
