As for insurance, yeah I'd think the Vette would be as expensive as a Shelby? Maybe more? The back seat in the Pony or Crapmaro might lower the rates a tad.


Rates for the Shelby were lower than the 'Vette last year when I looked into it. You nailed it. Going from 4 seat to a 2 seat is the difference according to my insurance guru. To me it's sort of bassackwards. I can kill 4 people in my Mustang verses 2 in a 'Vette but yet the 'Vette costs me 40% more. When I questioned him about it, he said the cost of repair or all out replacement of the 'Vette verses the "pony cars" had almost nothing to do with it. My takeaway on that is the insurance companies figure the temptation of having a true two seat sports car will at some point be too tempting and you'll end up doing something you ought not to do and find the losing end of the quarter. Liability is the monster in the room.
