2014 GT questions/thoughts...

Greetings,

Thinking about getting back in the Mustang game…had a fun little 2008 GT a few years ago and I’m looking to do it again. Haven’t really been keeping up on the Mustang scene lately so a few questions regarding 2013-2014 GT’s.

What I’m looking for:
- New 2014 or leftover 2013 (if there are any)
- 6-spd Manual…Only option is Track Pak

Questions:
- In my 2008, the power drivers seat was OK but sitting in the passenger (manual) seat felt like sitting in a hole; it was absurdly low. I’m 6’2” and even I felt like I was staring at the glovebox when sitting in it. Is the standard GT passenger seat an higher with the 2013-2014?
- Is there still a spoiler delete option?
- I thought I remember something on the Forum when the 5.0 came out, re: something about one of the cylinders (back, passenger side maybe) and a cooling issue? Is that still a concern or is that just Internet grumbling from over-modding them when they came out? Don’t really plan on modding this one, aside from shifter perhaps.
Seems to have a dealer agreeing on a 2014 6-spd GT with only Option being Track Pack for $33K out the door, which seems reasonable. Might just do it if there are no concerns regarding the 2014 models.

Thanks for any input, thoughts.

I just picked up my 2014 GT, has the "almost Track Pack" Breembo brake option and 3.73's and it is great.

I doubt they have changed the height of the passenger seat, best thingh to do is just go sit in one.

If you aren't totally committed to power seats you should definitely check out the Recaro seats. I mean why buy a Track Pack car with seats that can't hold you in place when cornering hard? The recaro's are the best seats they ever put in a Mustang but they are manual adjustment only.

Agreed. Once you find your ideal seat position how often do you change it? I haven't changed te seat positio since I drove off the lot. I would exchange power seats for recaros with manual adjustment anyday. Plus they look sweet to and are even more comfortable

BudgetPlan1, like you, I looked toward the 2014 base coupe GT with Track Pack this time. Without springing for the Recaros, you'll have a 4-way manual driver's seat and a 2-way passenger. The driver's seat will not only slide front-to-rear, like the passenger's, it will also raise up and down by pumping the front handle on the seat bottom, as seen on page 143 of the below link. I'm 5'5" and the seat will raise plenty high enough for me to see over the wheel, so you should be ok too.

My Race Red (base coupe) GT, with Track Pack as the only option, will cost me (MSRP) $34,040, minus $1500 Ford Rebate.

From what I read he's looking at a premium, owing to the power seat he's referring to and the price of the one the dealer quoted him. And as to the seat height he was asking about the passenger seat not the driver. And he should be able to find one for less than that.

Dealer I bought my car from had a handful of premium track pack recaro seat cars selling for around 34-35K.

Didn't see any responses to your question about cooling #8 cyl - seems to me (through my research on this) the issue has been resolved with 13/14 5.0's. They eliminated the oil squirters which seems to be a good improvement (I'm not fully up to speed on the details, still researching), and it appears that the issues were related to some of the aftermarket tuning? Probably a wealth of info if you search up or wait for some others to chime in

Amen brother!!!

The #8 problem - I think - occurred in cars with aftermarket tunes that messed with the knock sensors or something like that. Pretty sure that issue has been resolved by now.

I love my leather Recaros. Nicest seats my butt has ever had the privilege of sitting in.

3.73 gears rock in these cars ( MT-82 ). Plenty of go in any gear.

I'm really glad I went with the glass roof. Such a nice open feeling. Everyone who sits in the car loves it.

I agree about the Recaro's. And the track package. Closest I could get to a Boss 302 as a 2014 model (while also staying within my budget)

what's the difference between Brembos + 3.73 and Full Track Pak?

For that matter, difference between 2013 & 2014 GT? Seem to be lots of 2013's left.

No real difference between 13 and 14 that I know of.

The Track Pack has the boss 302 torsen diff and radiator and oil cooler.

I originally went out to buy a Track Pack car but it had been traded to another dealer who already had it sold just before I got to the dealership.

Looks like I may have found a 2013 Premium GT w/ just Track Pack, Spoiler Delete, about 150 miles away.

Equipment Group 400A
Track Pack

Internet Price: 32,837

If I can do OTD at $32K it seems fair to me.

Just gotta go sit in one to see if passenger seat still feels like sitting on floor. They really need to give that thing a height adjustment. I remember in 2008 there was a lot of folks installing factory power seat tracks/frames/controls on the passenger seat for just this reason.

No Ford dealers around here open on Sundays though.

Well, except the one the car is at 150 miles away...

Thanks for all the info.

Is that the msrp on the car? Or is that the price with some money already taken off the top. I ask because With the 14s hitting the lots now and all the take with the 15s you should be able to do surprisly better then 32k. I got mine for a bit below invoice and that was ordered from the dealer in January. So with that said they should be closer to 30.

Sounds like you found the right car, did you hunt it down or did a local dealership?

That's a premium car so that price is already heavily discounted.

Hunted it down myself. 2013 GT Premium, 6-spd, Track Pack & Spoiler delete. $34499 out the door including fees, title and 6.75% sales tax. Dealer has about 10 identical cars, except for color. They *say* they were originally ordered by Roush who never got to modifying them and they bought them in a lot. Ricart Ford in Columbus OH.

I read it on the Internet so it must be true.

Sounds fair enough to me, so what the heck.

As an owner of a '13 GT premium I can tell you you'll want the comfort package option which is a small option that gives you a power adjustable passenger seat along with heated seats, heated mirrors, and the cool Mustang horse door projection (on the street) when you unlock your car. I live in the South and still love my heated seats. Minimal cost for that option. Also, no worries on the cylinder issue. Whether it was actually a real issue is up for debate. There are plenty of '13's left on the lots at discount. A good dealer should be able to find what you need. And yes, you can get a spoiler delete GT. You won't regret your purchase.

I purchased my 2014 premiium GT/CS (402A Cali special) Comfor package, 3.31s for 31800, So I think its possible that 32k is a bit steep. Mine was like 2.5k or so under invoice.

I think the difference between the Brembo and Track Packages are the radiator and oil cooler (Track Package gets the radiator and oil cooler that comes on the Boss 302). The Track Package also gets the 3.73 Torsen rear end (which you can order separately with the Brembo package).

I believe both the Brembo and Track Packages get the same 19" wheels, Summer PZero tires, Brembo calipers, and a slightly more aggressive tune to the suspension and traction control.

I picked up my '14 GT Premium a few weeks ago. The 3.73 rear definitely makes 1st a launch gear (and good for not much else), and the Brembos will stand the car on its front bumper when you nail the brakes. As for price, I ticked off every box BUT the Recaros and rear-sensors (I wanted a red interior), and walked out the door at $38,950 (sticker was $44,100- I had X-Plan through MCA and $2,000 in incentives).

Awesome car... I test drove the S197 back when it was introduced 8 years ago or so and was actually less than impressed. The '14 feels like an entirely different car- the best words to describe it are "confidence inspiring." Its just a solid car that does everything effortlessly.
