2014 GT hood vents and cold air intake.
2014 GT hood vents and cold air intake.
This may have already been discussed on here if so can someone please point me to the thread that talks about the hood vents allowing water into the intake if you are using a cold air intake please. I seem to find this happens a lot on 2013 models did this not happen on the 10 11 and 12's or 14s or does it happen on all models? Did they redesign the hood vents in 2014 because I do plan on putting the JLT intake and kooks long tube herder on my car.
Thanks

Just spend $10 and 2mins of your time for install and your done. Have had mine on for the last 6 months and have had no water leaking on my filter.

A lot of people are making this into an issue when it really is not an issue at all. Our DD at Steeda drives in the rain, gets car washes, etc. and no issues. Here are quotes from members on forums that provided feedback with their 2013 Mustang and the Steeda CAI.
Same here, it rained heavily yesterday here in South Florida (for a good 3-4 hours) and when I popped my hood, there was no sign of water intrusion.
On a side note. I haven't had any issues with water or anything like that, and I was originally concerned about it. So for any you worried about water, I wouldn't be.
Other than my filter getting dirty or discolored. I've had no issues with my steeda intake. I think the vent just makes it get dirty faster. I'll just clean it more I guess.

It doesn't look all that great to me but if it does the job, whatever ... guess I could Plasti-Dip it black before installing it so it blends in ... lol

This is the reason I went with a K and N, it has a bolt on lid that covers the filter element. Looks nice, and I am pleased with the performance and sound upgrade as well. Haven't had any issues with rain or snow and it does a lot that here in Wyoming.
I'm glad some people are not having issues. I wanted to see if any water would drip on the filter so I wrapped it with paper towels. Washed my car like normal and once I was done opened the hood and the paper towel was soaking wet. Ordered the JLT vent plug and did the same test and only had a few drops of water on the edge of the paper towel. To me that says a lot about how well that vent plug works and for some it's more peace of mind then wondering if the water will hurt the car.
I may end up getting that vent plug from JLT or making my own since it's just a foam piece that needs to be trimmed to the right size ... but for free I figured I'd have Airaid send over their "fix" first and see what that looks like ...
Got my Airaid rain shield yesterday ... I think it has a date with my Plasti-Dip spray can VERY soon ... there's no way I'm gonna put something shiny that big under my hood ...
In the pic it's still covered by the plastic/rubbery protective wrap they send it in :

That is correct ... Never did I mention it didn't work. Nissans juke seem to function just fine but you don't see many of those around why you may ask... I believe bc they are ugly.
Looks alot better gabe. You need to go to the hospital sir, you hve terminal mod bug illness for sure. Hope it doesn't go away for the sake that your car is coming out fantastic so far!
