As the title states, can a reputable source please confirm if these are functional or pure aesthetic? Please provide sources for your claim. Did Ford say so? if so, where? Article? press release? Etc.

I believe Ford confirmed they were functional, no time to look at the moment though. Here is a pic I took of them at the Detroit auto show:

Thanks for the quick posts guys... although I am thinking 3 things, based on your posts above.

a) The more I see that new 2013 green color, the more I don't like it

b) The rims on that LA auto show 5.0 vert, are hideous. Are those STANDARD on the new 2013's???

c) Jamie, thanks for the 2nd paragraph, 2nd sentence on that blog. But is there something official from Ford? etc. ? I know this is pretty official... but you know what I mean? Not from some writer?

 

New trim, grille and hood with heat extractors (GT and Boss® models only) -ford. Not sure what that means tho...
