2013 Guys and Gals - Headlight question.

Correct me if I'm wrong here...

All lights off............. LED headlight strips are on.

Parking Lamps are on... LED strips and sidemarkers

Full Headlights are on... LED strips, projectors and sidemarkers

Does the "running" lamp filament in the headlight ever get used?

Reason I'm asking is because I bought switchbacks in preparation of my car, but if the amber running lamp in the headlight is never actually on, it would be totally pointless for me to install the switchbacks at all..

Can someone clear this up for me?

Parking brake on no lights on. When you disengage the parking brake the LED light pipes turn on. That's in a manual, not sure how it plays in the Automatic. I presume when you take it out of Park, same thing?

I can't speak on behalf of an automatic mustang, but from other automatics I've drove, it works the same way. If your e-brake is engaged, no head lights. Otherwise they're on even when in park.

^ u got it. the amber bulb only goes on with the turn signal or flashers.. for some reason they used a double filament bulb but the low side never comes on under any situation

Oh well. I'm sure the amber LED portion will still look cool I guess. ****.. I could have just bought regular LEDs instead of the more expensive switchback.

that reminds me, as on past cars, one of my mods on day one will likely be to bypassing the part of the foglight relay that turns off the foglights when switching to the high beams. :-) Done it on nearly all of my past cars.

Yes! I popped the fogs on real quick the other night just to see what they looked like and WOW what a difference it made on the road. I turned them off quickly as I did not want to **** off any oncoming drivers!

On my Cdn GT/CS automatic,

Lights off - LED strips and fogs on
Parking lights on - LED strips, fogs and side markers on
Lights on - LED strips and HID lamps on, fogs off
Signalling - Amber bulbs flash and LED strip off

No lights if the the switch is in the off position and the car in Park.

The fogs are LED on the standard GT. halogen on the GT500 and the CS and MCA cars. Easy fix for that is a HID retrofit.

My fogs are LED and the have a great blue hue to them. The lower wattage filament in the dual ambers is the blink on the passive alarm system arm. There is a definate difference in the brightness of the two.
