2013 GT/CS

Hi, I'm new to this forum and I figured I'd start off by saying I'm looking at buying a '13 GT/CS. I just have never bought a new car before so I'm not very knowledgeable on trade-ins, resale, etc, etc. Regardless I plan on keeping it for a very long time so I'm not too worried on that or financing be that I'll be buying it outright.

Anyways, I have a few questions about the Navigation/Electronics Package along with Gear sets i.e. 3.55/3.73 options.

First off, is the EP voice commanded? Can you still use the GPS feature after the Traffic Update "subscription" is expired? And how much does the subscriptions for XM and Traffic normally run?

The gears I'm leaning more towards 3.55's seeing how I do a lot of traveling and want a little better MPG but I still want some pep. What do the different axle packages normally cost?

Any feedback would be awesome. Cheers!

Yes, EP is voice command or you can use the touch screen.

Yes, you can use GPS when Sirius runs out

The traffic is apart of Sirius TravelLink which includes sports scores, weather, gas prices, etc. Last I checked it was $70/yr. Might be cheaper if you can find a promo

Thanks man. I appreciate the feedback. I'm seriously considering getting this package. I've read a lot of people saying it's not "worth" it if you plan on reselling it or trading it in, but as I said before, I plan on keeping the car a very long time.

No problem. I love it and use it all the time.

I need to renew my travellink subscription. The traffic feed has saved me time on my commute home more than a few times. I don't regret ordering it.

Well I plan on traveling a lot so I thought it might be a worthwhile investment. That, and I haven't heard of any handheld GPS(such as a tom tom or Garmin) that has traffic updates, etc. I may be wrong though. But it comes with more than that so I'm leaning towards it. Plus it's the only option, I was considering not getting. Plan on getting the California Special Package(402A), Glass Roof, Comfort Package, A different Axle Ratio(probably 3.55's) etc. I hope I'm happy with it, but I'm sure that's just because I don't have it yet haha.

Just purely traffic was about $48 for a year when mine ran out (no movies/weather/gas station prices, radio, etc...purely traffic). It was just their normal price of $4/mo

Thanks man. That's not bad. $70/year isn't bad either for everything. I don't care about movies but weather and radio would be nice

Oh, and btw I see you have 3.55's. Was that an extra option? If so, how much did it run? And where do you renew your subscription?

My wife got the EP, glass roof, and comfort pkg on her '11 GT, great choice. You also get a hard drive 'jukebox' to rip your cds to your on board library that you can voice command via Sync, for ex. "Play artist Van Halen'. Lots of other cool features too, the nav works well.

GT500 axle backs are a very popular upgrade for improved sound. If you are going to keep it a long time, consider an upgraded shifter, lots of good brands out there, I think the expensive MGW is worth the cost. A black Boss 302 shift **** on top of an upgraded shifter would look great in a black GT/CS.

Thanks man for the advice. I am really considering the EP option.

As far as the GT500 axle backs, I'm going with the Borla Atak Cat-backs. They sound amazing. And I plan on putting the shifter in the car as well. Never thought about the Boss 302 shift ****. I'll look into it.

Anyone have any info on the 3.55's or 3.73's? I'm curious on what that runs as an option? I know the GT's come with 3.31's standard. Any info??

Definitely change the shift **** at a minimum. I just got an aftermarket ball style shift **** from speeddawg and I love it! I can only imagine what a MGW would do.

I can't speak on the gears as I have the standard 3.31.

Glass roof is another option u won't regret!

Yeah I sat in a White GT today with a glass roof. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about them, but I instantly fell in love with it. I'm getting it in black with black interior. The glass roof is like a surprise for your passenger then. Harder to tell you got it.

The shift **** is a no big deal for me at least. I'm easy to please haha. But I was looking at those "Bracket kits" for the shifter and whatnot. Something to improve the shifting of the MT-82 since it's had problems like that in the past which comes with all that a new short throw and a new ****. Might get that.

But I'm still definitely getting a Borla system on it. Sound amazing and I'm not a big fan of the stock boss or even the GT500 axle backs' sound. If I'm spending money on an exhaust I'm making it loud. After all,

"Loud exhaust saves lives."

Me either.

I'm going to end up going with the Atak Cat-back system. Comes with X-pipe and that way I can keep my stock cats so the warranty doesn't go completely out the window.

I have decided after doing some more research on them, I am going with the EP. So now I just have to decide on if I want 3.55's or 3.73's. I'm leaning on the 3.55's since I travel a lot. That and if they were a good enough axle ratio for an '03 Cobra haha. They're good enough for me. But my buddy is pestering me to opt for the 3.73's haha. I don't know yet. I still have time before I'm ready to get a build order going.

I still can't find any info on them. Strange. Only thing I can find is that if you go with the "track package"(Brembos, Boss radiator, diff, etc) they come with the 3.73's. But alas, you can't get that package with the CS

I went with the 3.73s on mine (don't remember the cost... maybe $500). MPG wise it's not bad. With about 50/50 mixed driving I got a little better than 19 MPG. That's with required amount of "spirited" driving . With the manual and the 3.73s, it's very easy to start off in 2nd gear which helps with MPGs and steepness of the shifting.

Some modification to the shifter is a must. I went with an upgraded shifter support bracket for now but will at some point probably change the whole shifter.

Good luck, the car is going to look awesome. Wish my convertible could have had a 3.73 option...

If you like 'louder' then Borlas or Corsas are a great choice. I read on another thread that 3:55s come standard with the GT/CS, the 3:73s would be worthwhile. You don't buy a car like this to save 1.2 MPG per tank, or whatever you may get. Your mileage really depends on how much stop and go driving you do compared to how much highway. I have managed 22mpg on a full tank on my Boss when over 90% of that was on the highway. Drop that percentage to 65% and it's more like 18.5mpg.

The shift bracket is a great start to the OEM wet noodle shifter. Once I saw the MGW videos over on SVT Performance, I knew I had to have one in my Boss. I made this quick vid a while back to show the difference.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I think I might opt for the 3.73's. And I'll have to look into the brands for the shift brackets and whatnot. Saw a few different ones out there but I've heard nothing but good about the MGW

I went with the Steeda bracket and it made a great difference at a relatively low price. For me though I'll still end up changing the whole shifter. I'll end up going with the MGW as well.

I have the steeda bracket and I have found it to be exactly what I wanted. It is very comfortable and quiet but still engages properly even under load during spirited driving. The mgw has nothing but great reviews. I'm sure it would be excellent choice too.
