2012 V6 - Blue LED Quarter Marker Lights
Hey Everyone,
I was wondering if anyone has done this or knows what this would look like:
I purchased the Quarter Marker Tint from American Muscle, and plan on putting it on when it arrives. I also have a few extra Blue LED 194 Bulbs just sitting at home. I want to replace the stock quarter marker bulbs for these Blue LED's.
I know the stock Quarter Marker housing is bright Red, So considering i tint it and the blue LED bulb which emits light giong forward... not 360 degrees.... what would this look like?
what the light still shine? or would it look purple or no light at all since the quarter marker bulb stock emits light facing towards the front of the car in a 360 degree angle while the Blue LED shoots the light straight only

Shooting a pure blue light through a red lens equals pretty much no light at all. The tint will just reduce what little light is left even more. A red lens is red because it filters out all wavelengths of light other than red - only the red gets through, which is why that's what you see.
A blue LED light produces a very pure blue spectrum, with almost zero red light in it. Blue and red sit almost at opposite ends of the color spectrum, so the red lens will very effectively filter it out.
You might as well just remove the light bulb and remove a .1W load from your alternator.

Thanks for the info. It does make sense actually. I guess I might as well just keep the stock bulb in it then since the blue LED is useless
Thanks again
Thanks again

Speaking from experience, you will get pulled over for having ANY blue lights on your vehicle (I'm a cop). I have pulled over two vehicles in three weeks with blue LEDs. One was a white Dodge Charger with blue LED fog lights. I thought it was an Arkansas State Police cruiser, and I did a double-take when I saw it wasn't. The other was a motorcycle with blue LEDs in the engine compartment. It was coming up behind me and it could have been easily mistaken for a police motor unit. Don't do it! Illegal in all 50 states for on-road use.
