2012 Lower Control Arms. HELP!

I took my car to a local repair shop Friday which I had been using since the early 90s. They said the lower control arm were worn and that was causing the "clunk".
Anyway -- they called me Friday afternoon saying they could not completely undo the nut on the bolt on the front of the control arm and had spent 3 hrs. trying.

Did not want to torch it because close to the gas tank. So, my car sits in the shop.
I suggested using a nut breaker/splitter to get the nut off.

Anybody have a problem like this?

Thanks

So the nut isn't rounded off, they just don't have enough torque to break it free? Yep, time for a breaker bar, and possibly a piece of pipe over the breaker bar to extend the length even more.

that is a pretty big bolt if I remember correctly, if it is rusted tight it would take a LOT of torque to break free ... might be time for grinder?

Well, I got it back today. Now I am not sure what the problem(s) were. I guess he finally got the nuts loose only to find the bushing inside were rusted to the bolt. Ended up cutting with a torch.
Overall, pretty **** expensive. $935.
Oh well ,,, @105,000 miles on the odometer .... **** happens.

Car is the V6 with the handling package. See attached.
