2012 GT to ??? (Someone point me in right direction!)

So I have a 2012 PW Base GT Auto which I love. I also have a wife which I love as well (dont ask me which I love more.. :-P). Anyways basically all my mod plans have been on hault for a while now because my wife doesnt get it and wants us to focus on other things. I have been able to hold off but lately I ve been really impatient. So after thinking it over, I came to the assumption that maybe its time to let the pony go and switch to something I ll enjoy but that I wont want to mod, like a truck or a fun sporty sedan. Or should I just stick it out until I can get the green light? Just looking for ppl s .02 cents.

Assuming you're a car guy, you are going to want to mod pretty much everything you get. A little exhaust, new wheels, upgraded stereo.... If you like to mod, YOU WILL MOD. If you can't afford it, don't do it. If you can, try to reason with her. Ultimately you have to keep her happy...she is your wife!!!

Good luck!

ummmm, have you not seen all the modded pick up trucks and low riders? Any vehicle or transportation device with wheels is subject to modification.

Heck, people even modify their hopeless Honda's.

I say keep the Mustang, you have $$$ invested already...so why switch to something that you are eventually going to do the same thing w/anyway.

Lmao at your honda comment.

Yea I do have some mods done and I really love the way she looks right now, but when I see her; I see so much more potential. Either way your probably right about just sticking it out...

Btw as much as I love my car, everytime I see a RR color (especially if she s a cali special) OMG =O. I feel like I want to cheat on my PW pony lmao.

Keep your car, it's a Mustang, they are awesome in their stock form. Do your mods in small amounts, one at a time and shop around to save money. I bought my rims one at a time because we had home improvments we were working on (Did an entire kitchen remodel ourselves). I have found crazy savings on mods just by persistantly looking on ebay and the web. Just picked up a brand new AIRAID CAI of ebay for $185 (was listed as overstock), also got illuminated door sills for $99.. My wife is not really into cars either (although she has a Optima Turbo ), and doesn't really understand the need to mod, but she see's that it keeps me happy and is OK with it as long as all of our other finances are in order. I try to only do one mod at a time and not move to the next one until the CC is paid off. Like others have said though, if you have the "mod bug" changing cars usually doesn't make it go away (you should have seen my 2002 PT cruiser I got when my son was born for a more family oriented vehicle )..

Good Luck!!!

I'd keep the car and mod it bit by bit. Pickup parts for birthday, holiday presents etc. Half the fun is planing and looking for hood deals... If you have the urge to mod, then you'll probably feel it no matter what yo drive.

Are you thinking of buying something else for a more practical use, or just to get out of the Mustang because its making you spend more money (a.k.a. more mods)?

The Raptor is a gorgious truck, but its way over the cost of a Mustang GT! Heck, use that to show the wife that the Mustang and its mods are cheaper to keep.

If your a patient man, there's Christmas, your Birthday, and Fathers day (if your a dad) for those "must have" mods.

I guess I'm a lucky one. I was a car guy going into my marrage, her dad was a car guy (used to race back in the 50's), so she knew she was never going to stop that.

Just don't tell the wife? I never mention anything to my wife and she doesn't ask. Although I don't do anything that is visible. Only under the hood parts.

Keep it and just mod little by little. Explain to her sometimes if things are on sale and its a steal or you found it on eBay and slowly work those mods in. Also holidays and stuff as people mentioned.

You must balance the checkbook as well. My wife is the acountant. While I'll go out and buy something without her knowing at first, she always comes to me at the end of the month and asks, "so what did we buy this month for $xxx.xx"?

When you buy her something nice your stang gets something nice! It's a WIN, WIN for everyone! Get her some nice diamond earrings. lol I know I love diamonds!

This car maybe your passion. Is there something your wife likes to do or buy? Make a budget for her interests and your interests. I'm sure you both could come up with a compromise. When she purchases something, you have the right to purchase something for yourself.

Luckily my husband and I have the same passions and we agree with vehicle modifications. Good luck!

If you are both gainfully employed divert some of your wage to your mustang fund. That way you can mod away with your cash instead of household funds. As long as the rest of the expenses are covered, you should be able to get what you want. The above scenario works in my case.

Ahh gotcha. I handle ever bill at our house, my wife refuses to look at any bills. Keep the car in my opinion. It's great stock and if you can work out a few mods then even better.

Only option that might work in my opinion would be to find a car that has already been modified the way you would want and then buy that. But that would be quite difficult

I guess the question is...what does she want to save money for and should those things be prioritized over car mods? I don't mod my car much because buying a house, saving for retirement and kids in the near future is more important. If I wanted to buy mods right now, she'd be right to criticize. I'm just glad I get to keep the car even when the first kid comes along.

My fellow stanger. Let me say I can clearly feel your pain with your spouse as I fully understood what your going through. The simple truth is that a large majority of woman will never understand what a car is to a car guy. My wife loved our mustang when we first got it. Now that I have modded it, my wife hates our mustang. She finds it loud and obnoxious. To my wife a vehicle is nothing more than transportation from point A to point B. That's it. Its not a lifestyle, its not a social event, its just a piece of metal that gets you from here to there. In general , woman aren't going to get it. The same way woman don't understand why us men need 60 plus inch televisions and its never too big.

Just like men don't get why a woman needs a new pair of shoes with a new outfit when they have 10 other black shoes that go with the new outfit. Woman just will never get it. Today my wife wigged the f out because I needed to spend 114 dollars on a 02 sensor and the car is gonna nickle and dine us because of the mods. My wife actually told me I needed to choose either her or our mustang and needed to sell the pony. She is tired of me always on these mustang forums. So what would any husband do with having a 9 and 12 year old and 16 years of marriage.
