It's a factory doohickey. It came with two clips - a sunglasses clip, which is installed, and which frankly doesn't work very well, and a receipt holder clip that you just slide papers into.

The sunglasses clip is new for 2012 but if it's junk I won't even bother trying to get one. Again , enjoy that new ride!

Upon further thinking, it seems that the spring, which is very stiff, is done that way on purpose - it will loosen up over time. I think it's just too stiff now because it's new.

And that's the only problem with it - two hands are required to use it because the spring is too stiff.

Congrats, Jason
Mine was ordered 12-16, it's loaded too,and waiting on ramp 51 for a ride to my dealer. It's been there almost 2 weeks now. Started to get the feeling it's never coming. After seeing your pic's I'm back on the edge of my seat waiting.
Thanks

Grats man, was goin through some older pages the other day and noticed this post.

This is EXACTLY the same as I ordered, same colors and everything, although I am not sure if I got the rear sensors. I got the backup camera and hids dunno if those sensors are thrown in with one of those packages.

Anyways I keep coming back to this thread because I get to see what my car is going to look like. Thanks for your tons of great detailed photos and enjoy!

My father's corvette has the same garage opening system. You have to press something like "link" on the actual motor of the garage door opener while the visor unit is in discovery mode. It doesn't work like HomeLink where it copies the signal sent out by a universal remote garage door opener. It's kinda of a pain in the ***.

Congrats by the way on the beautiful car! It is almost exactly how I would order except for the glass roof.

First, congrats.

Second, did you ever get the Homelink figured out? It's one of the reasons I waited for the 2012, I didn't want 2 ugly remotes on my visor (one for my house/one for my parents' house/business). I have a Genie "intellicode" rolling system in my house. But I figure if my dad's 2004 Lexus GS (which actually debuted in 1998) can learn it, the 2012 Mustang **** well better too!

I did. I made a thread on it a little while ago; you have to purchase a "conversion module" for about $35 shipped from the Lear website if the part number of the current transmitter isn't compatible with the system. I know it works on Craftsman/Liftmaster openers. Others, I'm not so sure about.

My pleasure! The camera and backup sensors are separate options; the sensors are part of a package including the security system. You can also get HIDs + security system, or HIDs + sensors + security system, which is what I got. The backup camera plus the sensors make going backwards almost easier than going forwards as far as visibility.

Yeah, it's not as good as a homelink system, but once you finally get it all set up it's not too bad. I discussed setting it up properly both in another thread I made and a little above this text, for your reading pleasure. I figured since I was the first person on the forum with the opener I'd write some how-tos
